  • Publication number: 20080013640
Abstract: A multi-dimensional Burst Link Access Streaming Transmission (BLAST) architecture, which provides flexible physical apparatus for balanced performance of data throughput, latency, and reliability of transmission (e.g. graceful degradation). A schedule is sent from a master node to alert targeted nodes regarding messages to be sent. The master node uses a P-Band transmission link operating a regular intervals to synchronize the system in preparation for receipt of a message over a synchronous link. Each node has the capability of sending and receiving synchronous and asynchronous messages.

  • Publication number: 20080012509
Abstract: Systems and methods presented herein provide for the control of electrical energy discharge from an electrode. In this regard, a sensor detects electrical energy discharged from the electrode and generates an electronic signal representative of a detected electrical energy discharge. Such a sensor may detect an electric field and/or light from the electrical energy discharge. The sensor may generate the electronic signal therefrom for subsequent processing. Accordingly, the system also includes a controller communicatively coupled to the sensor to determine a spurious discharge of the electrical energy discharge from the electrode. The controller processes the electronic signal to control at least one characteristic (e.g., voltage) of the electrical energy provided to the electrode. The controller may change a voltage of the electrical energy to the electrode in response to determining a spurious discharge of the electrical energy discharged from the electrode.

  • Publication number: 20080016047
Abstract: A method, system and article of manufacture for executing database queries where the data being queried resides in both relational databases and other external data sources, and, more particularly, for creating a dynamic, just in time, database table using data retrieved from an external source. One embodiment provides a method of processing a database query. The method includes receiving, from a requesting entity, an abstract query of data contained in a database and an external data source, the abstract query being defined using logical fields of a data abstraction model abstractly describing the data in the database and the external data source.

  • Publication number: 20080014137
Abstract: Ammonia is produced in a reactor in which pseudoisothermal conditions can be approached by convective cooling of a reaction zone of the reactor by positioning at least a portion of the reaction zone in indirect contact with a flow of hot gas such as exhaust gas or preheated air. The hot gas may be supplied from a fired heater, a boiler, a reformer, a process air preheat furnace, a gas turbine, or the like. The reactor converts a feed stream of a purge gas or syngas to ammonia. The method may be implemented in a primary synthesis loop or in a purge gas loop of a new ammonia plant, or by retrofitting an existing ammonia plant. Cooperatively installed with a primary ammonia synthesis loop, the reactor increases total ammonia production.

  • Publication number: 20080012499
Abstract: Isolation IR heat lamp module and method of firing multi-zone IR furnaces for solar cell processing comprising lamps disposed in individual parallel channels in a reflector/insulator body to provide a cooling air channel surrounding each tube; the channels are covered with IR-transmissive plate material to isolate each lamp from adjacent lamps and the process zone. Cooling air is exhausted and recycled upstream for energy conservation. Lamp spacing can be varied and power to each lamp individually controlled to provide infinite control of temperature profile in each heating zone. For a spike zone, and in combination with downstream quench control and annealing zones, steep heating and cooling curves with very short dwell (sharp) peak temperature profiles permit faster throughput due to operation of the lampsm at essentially 100% rated capacity, at a 2× or greater heating and throughput rate without compromising lamp life, while producing solar cells with improved output efficiency.
