  • Publication number: 20210007915
Abstract: Powered patient support apparatuses—such as beds, cots, stretchers, or the like—include a plurality of user controls that allow a caregiver to control the steering and/or driving of one or more powered wheels from multiple different locations around the patient support apparatus (e.g. head end, foot end, and/or the sides). The control is carried out by force sensors that detect both an orientation of the applied forces and a magnitude of the applied forces. Translational and/or rotational movement is effectuated, depending upon the magnitude and direction of the forces, as well as the physical location of the applied force relative to a reference point on the support apparatus, such as the center. One or more object sensors may also be included in the support apparatus to assist in steering and/or navigating.

  • Patent number: 10873542
Abstract: Systems and methods for allocating resources. The system includes a communications module, a processor, and a memory. The memory stores a data record and instructions that, when executed, configure the processor to obtain a data record and transmit an existing score indication corresponding to the data record for display at the client device; receive a first time parameter and an action indicator associated with a shared resource and, in response, determine a first provisional score corresponding to the data record based on the existing score indication, the action indicator, and the first time parameter to provide a first provisional score indication; transmit the first provisional score indication and a selectable option associated with the action indicator for display at the client device while the first provisional score indication is displayed; and in response to receiving a resource transfer instruction, allocate the shared resource associated with the action indicator.

  • Patent number: 10869983
Abstract: An angular interlock for a swivel feature formed using injection molding techniques is described herein. In one exemplary embodiment, the swivel feature is used for a conduit for delivering breathing therapy to a patient, and includes an outer swivel component and an inner swivel component formed using a two-shot molding technique. The outer swivel component is formed first out of a material, such as polycarbonate, having a low shrink rate, whereas the inner swivel component is formed of a material, such as polypropylene, having a high shrink rate. The material for the inner swivel component is injected into the formed outer swivel component and allowed to cool, creating a clearance. The outer swivel component includes an angular interlock protrusion that allows the inner swivel component to be formed without creating an interface about the angular interlock protrusion, which typically occurs with standard rectangular interlocks.

  • Patent number: 10830866
Abstract: Techniques for gunshot sensor testing are disclosed. An acoustic generator and infrared generator are disposed in a housing. Soundproofing insulation is distributed around and/or within the housing to provide sound deadening which minimizes disturbance to building occupants during testing. The housing is placed in proximity to a gunshot sensor. A trigger device enables multiple modes of triggering both the acoustic generator and infrared generator. The generators stimulate corresponding components of a gunshot sensor. Input from the gunshot sensor components is evaluated to determine an operating condition of the gunshot sensor. The gunshot sensor verifies its operation by communicating with a server. The server further tests mass communication channels by issuing a test message. The test results indicative of the condition of the gunshot sensor are sent to a mobile device for an operator to review.

  • Publication number: 20200281676
Abstract: A robotic surgical system comprises a surgical tool, a manipulator configured to support the surgical tool, a force/torque sensor to measure forces and torques applied to the surgical tool, and a control system. The control system obtains a three-dimensional milling path for the surgical tool. The control system also receives one or more signals from the force/torque sensor in response to a user manually applying user forces and torques to the surgical tool. The control system determines a commanded pose to which to command the manipulator to advance the surgical tool along the milling path based on a tangential component of the user forces and torques, based on a virtual simulation using virtual constraints, and/or based on other suitable factors to promote guided, manual movement of the surgical tool along the milling path.

  • Patent number: 10746897
Abstract: The present disclosure provides systems and methods for determining occupancy status of a space. The systems and methods can utilize one or more space sensors in combination with one or more boundary sensors. The space sensors can transmit passive signals corresponding to presence of movement in the space. The boundary sensors can transmit boundary signals corresponding to movement into or out of the space. In response to falling edges of a passive signal and a boundary signal occurring within a predetermined time period of one another, an indication that the space is not occupied can be provided. In some cases, the passive signals and the boundary signals can be communicated via a gateway utilizing a signal communication protocol.
