  • Publication number: 20160320341
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for determining a mobility of ions. The method includes the steps of modulating an ion beam with an ion gate which is controlled by a modulation function for generating a modulated ion beam, of guiding the modulated ion beam through a drifting region, of measuring a signal of the modulated ion beam after the modulated ion beam has passed the drifting region and of calculating a correlation of the modulation function and the signal in order to determine the mobility of the ions. The apparatus includes the ion gate, the drifting region through which the modulated ion beam is guidable, a detector by which the signal of the modulated ion beam is measurable after the modulated ion beam has passed the drifting region and a calculation unit by which the correlation of the modulation function and the signal is calculable in order to determine the mobility of the ions. An autocorrelation of the modulation function is a two-valued function.

  • Publication number: 20160316858
Abstract: A cleat for footwear. The cleat includes a base layer that attaches to the outsole of the footwear, a cushioning layer and a traction element layer. The traction element layer is attached to the base layer solely by the cushioning layer. Each of the cleat layers provides friction with the ground when the cleat engages the ground. The durometer of the base layer and the durometer of the traction element layer are greater than the durometer of the cushioning layer. When a user steps on a surface wearing a shoe outfitted with these cleats, the resilience of the cushioning layer at once both lessens the impact of the traction elements on the ground surface and lessens the reaction force on the user's foot transmitted through the shoe's outsole. The user's comfort is thereby enhanced.

  • Publication number: 20160321496
Abstract: Technologies are presented herein in support of a system and method for performing fingerprint recognition. Embodiments of the present invention concern a system and method for capturing a user's biometric features and generating an identifier characterizing the user's biometric features using a mobile device such as a smartphone. The biometric identifier is generated using imagery captured of a plurality of fingers of a user for the purposes of authenticating/identifying the user according to the captured biometrics and determining the user's liveness. The present disclosure also describes additional techniques for preventing erroneous authentication caused by spoofing. In some examples, the anti-spoofing techniques may include capturing one or more images of a user's fingers and analyzing the captured images for indications of liveness.

  • Publication number: 20160321096
Abstract: A method and associated systems for anti-collocating multiple virtual entities in a cloud-computing environment. A computerized cloud-configuration system receives a list of virtual machines to be placed in a cloud and a set of anti-collocation rules that identify combinations of machines that may not be placed in a same location. Each virtual machine is assigned a priority and the machines are organized into groups as a function these priorities. The groups are processed sequentially in priority order, and a color is assigned to each virtual machine in each group. Any machine not constrained by an anti-collocation rule is assigned a default “most popular” color. Constrained machines are each assigned a color that is not already used by any other machine with which it is anti-collocated. The virtual machines in each group are then placed in the cloud in order of color, with the populous colors being assigned first.

  • Publication number: 20160323243
Abstract: A data leak protection system and methods thereof are described that identify and analyze a digital fingerprint for a data package, the digital fingerprint characterizing the data package based on a corpus of data within the data package. In one embodiment, an asset descriptor is configured to identify one or more assets within the corpus of data while a contextual analyzer frames the one or more assets into the prevailing contextual environment. Then, a domain identifier further identifies a data perimeter based on the assets identified for the prevailing contextual environment. A comparison of the digital fingerprint to a collection of domain specific identifiers allows further actions responsive to a digital fingerprint falling outside of the data perimeter for an identified contextual environment. In one example, a data leak triggers quarantining of the data package for further manual processing.
