  • Publication number: 20160317641
Abstract: The present invention provides methods of mucosal tissue administration of therapeutic HPV vaccines, in a prime-boost regimen, which generated antigen-specific CD8+ T cell-mediated immune responses and the expression of tissue-resident memory T cell (Trm) markers on the CD8+ T cells. In some embodiments, the inventive methods employed pNGVL4a-sig/E7(detox)/HSP70 DNA vaccine and TA-HPV in a prime-boost regimen which shows vaccination in the infected mucosal tissues, including those in the cervicovaginal tract, elicited potent antitumor effects and a more effective local immune response in the tissues and regional lymph node, when compared to intramuscular vaccination. Furthermore, targeting the induction of Trm-mediated immune responses can serve as an ideal methodology especially for therapeutic HPV vaccines.

  • Publication number: 20160317277
Abstract: There is disclosed a porous emboli deflector for preventing cerebral emboli while maintaining cerebral blood flow during an endovascular or open surgical procedure. The device prevents the entrance of emboli of a size able to cause stroke (such as greater than 100 microns) from entering either the right or left common carotid arteries, and/or the right or left vertebral arteries by deflecting emboli downstream of these vessels. The device can be placed prior to any manipulation of the heart or aorta allowing maximal protection of the brain during the index procedure. The deflector has a low profile within the aorta which allows sheaths, catheters, or wires used in the index procedure to pass. Also disclosed are methods for insertion and removal of the deflector.

  • Publication number: 20160323348
Abstract: A system for delivering content at varying qualities from a server to multiple client across a network has a server side converter and a client side converter. The server side converter makes unicast requests to a server for representations of content and converts these to multiple representations to be delivered as multicast streams. The client side converter receives a request for content from clients, determines a representation of content to obtain and subscribes to an appropriate multicast stream. The client side then converts the multicast stream back into segments available to a client by unicast request. In this way, data is delivered efficiently across a network from a server side to a client side whilst maintaining compatibility that client devices can issue traditional unicast requests.

  • Publication number: 20160318743
Abstract: Long-handled lever rotates lower cam surface about an upper pivot axle between 2 spaced-apart fixed wedge-bodies which are further held apart by a lower pivot axle. A movable wedge-body between the fixed bodies rotates on the lower axle due to a cam follower actuated by the lever cam surface. At rest without cam action, the 3 acute-angle-shaped wedge feet form a composite wedge forced into the pry space between beams, etc. With lever rotations, the movable wedge foot moves away from the fixed wedge feet by rotation about the lower pivot axle. The method mounts fixed wedges on first and second pivots. Counterclockwise movement leverages the lever about the first pivot, rotating a convex cam over a concave cam follower on an upper ankle of the movable wedge causing clockwise rotation of the movable wedge about the second pivot resulting in separation of fixed versus movable acute wedge surfaces.

  • Publication number: 20160321820
Abstract: Generally discussed herein are systems, apparatuses, and methods for moving object detection. In one or more embodiments, a method can include computing a central value for each color of each pixel in a series of frames from a static imaging device to create a static reference frame, computing a difference between pixel values of a first frame captured after the series of frames by the static imaging device and a central value of a corresponding pixel value in the static reference frame, comparing the computed differences to a difference threshold, aggregating contiguous pixels corresponding to differences greater than the difference threshold into contiguous segments of pixels, and determining if the contiguous segments correspond to a moving object by registering the contiguous segments to pixels of a frame preceding the first frame.

Abstract: The invention herein described, provides, among other things, self-buffering protein formulations. Particularly, the invention provides self-buffering pharmaceutical protein formulations that are suitable for veterinary and human medical use. The self-buffering protein formulations are substantially free of other buffering agents, stably maintain pH for the extended time periods involved in the distribution and storage of pharmaceutical proteins for veterinary and human medical use. The invention further provides methods for designing, making, and using the formulation. In addition to other advantages, the formulations avoid the disadvantages associated with the buffering agents conventionally used in current formulations of proteins for pharmaceutical use.
