  • Publication number: 20150321949
Abstract: Certain example embodiments relate to Ni-inclusive ternary alloy being provided as a barrier layer for protecting an IR reflecting layer comprising silver or the like. The provision of a barrier layer comprising nickel, chromium, and/or molybdenum and/or oxides thereof may improve corrosion resistance, as well as chemical and mechanical durability. In certain examples, more than one barrier layer may be used on at least one side of the layer comprising silver. In still further examples, a NixCryMoz-based layer may be used as the functional layer, rather than or in addition to as a barrier layer, in a coating.

  • Publication number: 20150321022
Abstract: A portable medical device having a reliable readiness indicator. Embodiments provide a reliable readiness indicator with an active clasp that holds the garment in place. The clasp is enabled by the defibrillator when it is ready for use. If the clasp is not enabled the garment cannot be worn comfortably, and it becomes apparent to the patient that steps need to be taken to make the device ready for use.

  • Publication number: 20150320542
Abstract: A composite hollow lumen and a method for producing the lumen are provided. The lumen includes a tubular textile formed of yarns having a first tensile strength and a matrix material in which the tubular textile is embedded to form a conduit having a bore and a sidewall substantially impermeable to liquid. The matrix material has a second tensile strength that is lower than the first tensile strength. The method for producing a composite lumen includes selecting yarns having a first tensile strength, selecting an elastomeric matrix material having a second tensile strength that is lower that the first tensile strength, forming a tubular textile of the yarns, and embedding the tubular textile in the matrix material to form a conduit having a bore and conduit walls that are substantially impermeable to liquid. The elastomeric matrix material is a biodegradable or bioresorbable polyester.

  • Publication number: 20150323015
Abstract: The present invention relates to rotary devices, such as wind vanes and the like. Specifically, the present invention relates to a mechanical coupling for the same, whereby a wind vane or other rotary tool, can be replaced without the use of a tool. The present invention seeks to provide a coupling device which makes a mechanical coupling between a first and a second member such that the locking together and release action is positive, without likelihood of failure, and can be conducted simply and quickly without the use of a tool. Further objects of the invention are to provide couplings in which a positive axial and rotational location of shaft as first member and mating bore in a second member are obtained without reliance on friction forces, and which do not cause damage to either of the sliding surfaces when excessive force is applied, and which are capable of transmitting a torque, such couplings being suitable for attaching a rotor to an anemometer or the fin to the shaft of a wind vane.

  • Publication number: 20150323097
Abstract: The present invention provides an easily mounted, self-contained, compact fluid leak detection kit and/or method. The kit housing can be mounted by a homeowner or contractor between the wall outlet and the toilet input. When water begins to flow through the kit housing, a sensor such as a flow switch closes and applies voltage to the time delay relay. As long as the flow continues, the relay will count down the amount of preset time. The kit provides an adjustment to set a predetermined delay time, which is easily accessible and adjustable to the normal operating cycle time of any particular toilet. After adjusting the timer to the normal operating cycle time of the toilet, then the kit simply allows normal operation of the toilet as long as flow stops before the flow cycle. However, when a time has elapsed during the flow cycle to thereby indicate a problem leak, the relay will send voltage to a solenoid valve, which will stop the flow.

  • Publication number: 20150325409
Abstract: A method and apparatus for altering the orientation of a charged particle beam sample is presented. Embodiments of the method includes providing a first work piece on a sample stage having a sample stage plane, the first work piece including a lamella plane in a first orientation. A sample is milled from the first work piece using an ion beam so that the sample is substantially free from the first work piece. A probe is attached to the sample, the probe including a shaft having a shaft axis, the shaft axis oriented at a shaft angle in relation to the sample stage plane, the shaft angle being non-normal to the sample stage plane. The probe is rotated about the shaft axis through a rotational angle so that the lamella plane is in a second orientation. The sample is attached to or placed on the sample on either the first work piece, the first work piece being the work piece from which the sample was milled, or on a second work piece, the second work piece being a work piece from which the sample was not milled.
