  • Patent number: 4936445
Abstract: Improved flexible ratchet teeth are provided for allowing relative rotational movement of one peripheral surface relative to an encompassing peripheral surface. Such teeth allow relative rotational movement in one direction of rotation only during which the ratchet teeth of one peripheral surface slide over the ratchet teeth of the other. The flexible teeth which may be disposed on either or both peripheral surfaces prevent distortion of the encompassing peripheral surface obtained in the prior art when ratchet teeth of solid construction are employed.

  • Patent number: 4863016
Abstract: The present invention provides a package for and method of packaging a sterilizable calibratable medical device including a hydratable sensor component. The device is maintained in a sterile environment during storage and in a clean environment during the calibration procedure. The package includes a manifold connected to the sensor component by plumbing. The plumbing establishes fluid communication between the manifold and the sensor component and/or between the sensor component and the ambient environment of the plumbing. The manifold, plumbing and medical device are sealed in a wrap including a gas-permeable surface. The wrap and its contents, including the interior surfaces of the components, are sterilizable by exposing the wrap to a gaseous sterilization solution and appropriately adjusting the plumbing. The medical device is hydratable by directing the hydration solution to the sensor component by means of the plumbing.

  • Patent number: 4784658
Abstract: A flexible diluent container has a helical threaded port plug which enhances or modifies the mechanical interlock with a stopper of an additive vial in a drug delivery system. The additive vial is screwed into the port of the diluent container with the recess of the vial stopper fitting over the engagement portion of the port plug. In doing so, the helical threads of the port plug engage the stopper throat in a complementary manner to enhance the axial mating engagement therebetween and hence minimize or avoid axial resistance to passage of the large plug head through the neck of the stopper recess. With the helical threads of the port head having a lead greater than the threads of the vial which engage the port, a positive axial drawing action may be obtained so as to induce or "pull" the engagement portion of the port plug into the recess of the stopper.

  • Patent number: 4784259
Abstract: A flexible diluent container has a vaned port plug which enhances or modifies the mechanical interlock with a stopper of an additive vial in a drug delivery system. The additive vial is screwed into the port of the diluent container with the recess of the vial stopper fitting over the engagement portion of the port plug. In doing so, the vanes or wings of the port plug present a minimal frontal area and hence minimal resistance to passage through the neck of the stopper recess. Also, being flexible, they tend to fold or wrap in against the core of the extractor as the vial and stopper are rotated and advanced into the seated position, thereby further reducing the axial forces involved.
