Abstract: A corona charging device cleaning apparatus and method of cleaning a corona charging device includes a support member that includes two side surfaces that face in opposite directions. A side shield cleaning member is attached to each side surface to clean an inner surface of a side shield of a corona device. The support member of the corona charging device cleaning apparatus may also include a concavity and a cavity portion. A screen grid cleaning member may be attached to the concavity of the support member to clean a screen grid of the corona charging device. A charging-component cleaning member may be disposed inside the cavity portion of the support member to clean a charging component of the corona charging device.

  • Publication number: 20090190975
Abstract: A cleaning system for cleaning a moving surface of an image forming device, such as a photoreceptor. The cleaning system includes first and second links each having three pivot connections for pivotally connecting first and second cleaning blades together in mutually exclusive cooperative movement alternating between a common Cleaning Position at a first location and respective Suspended Positions. The cleaning system can include a Doctor Blade arrangement in which the cleaning blades are disposed in a Doctor Blade orientation in the Cleaning Position. The cleaning system can include a Wiper Blade arrangement in which the cleaning blades are disposed in a Wiper Blade orientation in the Cleaning Position. The first and second cleaning blades form similar Blade Holder Angles, Blade Deflection Angles and Working Angles when occupying the Cleaning Position.

  • Patent number: 7537410
Abstract: A driven coupling includes three separate cam lobes projecting therefrom that mate with mating female features in a driver coupling. A central straight or tapered bore accepts a conical alignment pin that projects from the driver coupling. Since the cam lobes are independent and are able to radically deflect, under torque load the central bore is closed down to create a highly precise alignment.

  • Publication number: 20090114421
Abstract: Disclosed herein is an electrical component comprising a segment having a diameter in the range of about 1 micrometers to about 10 cm, the segment comprising a plurality of non-metallic, resistive fibers in a non-metallic binder. The segment is precisely trimmed to impart to the segment an electrical resistance within 1% of the desired resistance value. A manufacturing system and methods of manufacturing components having precise specifications also are disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20090110416
Abstract: Systems and methods are described that facilitate replacing cleaning blades employed to chisel excess toner from a photoreceptor surface. For example, a cleaning unit can comprise a blade holder with a plurality of cleaning blades attached thereto, which is rotated (e.g., by an actuator) to remove a used cleaning blade from the photoreceptor surface and position a new cleaning blade against the photoreceptor surface. Blade replacement can be triggered by a detected defect on an output image or by detected excess toner on the photoreceptor surface downstream from the cleaning blade. Additionally, blade replacement can be triggered as a function of blade use (e.g., measured in time, prints, photoreceptor cycles), friction force on the blade, or a combination thereof, to achieve a desired (e.g., low) cleaning unit failure probability.

  • Publication number: 20090080936
Abstract: A coupling mechanism includes a driven coupling for mating with a driving coupling. The driven coupling includes a cylinder flange, a concentric shaft that extends axially outwardly from the flange, and a cylindrical driven coupling member that extends axially outwardly from the concentric shaft. The driven coupling member comprises a flexible membrane that encases non-rigid fill material, such as, e.g., a flowable granular material or a non-Newtonian fluid. The driven coupling member has a non-twisted, triangular cross-section, and is configured such that, when it is operationally engaged with the driving coupling, the non-rigid material substantially solidifies, thereby providing a substantially non-flexible structure for the membrane. The driven coupling may be connected to, for example, a photoreceptor drum of a material supply module, and the driving coupling may be connected to a reprographic device.

  • Publication number: 20080017062
Abstract: According to an aspect of the present disclosure; a method of processing a substrate media having an image injected thereon is provided and includes the step of passing the substrate media through a nip defined between a heated fuser drum and a pressure roll. A fixer subsystem, for use in a system for printing on a substrate media, where the subsystem includes a rotatable, heatable fuser drum defining an axis of rotation; and a rotatable pressure roll operatively associated with the fuser drum and defining an axis of rotation substantially parallel to the axis of rotation of the fuser drum. The pressure roll is rotatable about the axis of rotation of the fuser drum to vary a length of contact of substrate media and image with fuser drum.

  • Patent number: 5225880
Abstract: An agglomerate removal device for removing unwanted particles from images on a photoreceptor includes vacuum pick off source and baffles that create a controlled aerodynamic drag under the photoreceptor before the images reach a transfer station. Removing the agglomerates improves the quality of images transferred at the transfer station to receiving substrates.
