  • Publication number: 20050242116
Abstract: An apparatus and method is disclosed for conveniently reducing spillage from dispensers. A base secures to, or is secured by the base. A holder secures to the base and receives a disposable cup. The disposable cup is typically readily available and may be readily replaced when the cup becomes full. The holder may be adjustable with respect to the dispenser to vary the position of the holder with respect to a spigot. The holder may be secured to the dispenser in an out-of-the-way position for ready storage and transportation. An adjustable holder, or a selectively inserted insert, may enable the holder to accommodate disposable cups of differing sizes.

  • Patent number: 6390975
Abstract: An otoscopic accessory for use in performing procedures in the external auditory canal and middle ear space, having a speculum, a probe and an actuator. The speculum has a generally tapered sidewall. The proximal end of the sidewall is configured to engage the head of an otoscope, and the distal end of the sidewall is configured to be inserted into a patient's outer ear canal. The probe has a shaft that is positioned against an exterior surface of the sidewall of the speculum. The actuator is coupled at its distal portion to the speculum. The distal portion of the actuator is closely conformed to the proximal end of the sidewall of the speculum to form a guide between the exterior surface of the speculum and the distal portion of the actuator. The probe is positioned within the guide, and the guide directs the distal end of the probe to a location within or on the distal end of the sidewall of the speculum. The probe is fixed to and moves with the proximal portion of the actuator.

  • Patent number: 5724871
Abstract: A wire stripping tool (FIG. 1) has outer jaws 12, 18 which can be closed together by levers 10, 16 acting via a link 24. Inner jaws 34, 36 are so closed to cut the wire sheath, and then actuator 32 is displaced left to right to move the inner cutting jaws and displace the cut sheath along the wire core. The actuator has a solely linear movement, being guided by roller 14 and pin 42, whilst jaw closing and subsequent re-opening to complete the cycle of operations is carried out by cam plate 28 which is pivoted on the actuator and to the link. Lost motion is provided at two places in the actuator by pin 38 in slot 39 and pin 26 in slot 30.

  • Patent number: 5653027
Abstract: A cable stripping tool has a handle and a slidable cable clamp constantly urged by a spring constantly toward a cutter blade on the handle for cutting the sheath of a cable. The tool has a locking device which, when activated, locks the clamp against sliding movement in at least the direction away from the cutter blade so as to maintain efficient cutting performance of the blade when cutting the cable sheath.

  • Patent number: 4005936
Abstract: For measuring surface motion or profile, laser beams of two different frequencies .omega..sub.1 and .omega..sub.2 (from one laser or two) are each split into two parts. Frequency shifts of .delta..omega..sub.1 and .delta..omega..sub.2 are introduced into one part of the respective beams. One part of each beam (preferably the parts which are not frequency-shifted) are directed on to, and reflected from, the surface of interest. These reflected parts of the beams, together with the non-reflected parts, are received at either a single or two separate photosensitive detectors so that the parts of similar frequency interfere coherently with one another. From the detector(s) is derived a difference frequency (.delta..omega..sub.1 -.delta..omega..sub.2) whose phase is a measure of the distance to the surface.
