    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a source base station. The source base station comprises a processing circuitry that generates a user equipment packet duplication status. The user equipment packet duplication status includes information on the status of uplink packet duplication performed by a user equipment with the source base station and at least one further base station. The information on the status of uplink packet duplication is per uplink radio bearer, one or more uplink radio bearers being established between the user equipment and the source base station. The source base station further comprises a transmitter that transmits the user equipment packet duplication status to a target base station which is the target of a handover from the source base station performed for the user equipment.

    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a radio base station serving a user equipment in a first radio cell of a mobile communication system. The radio base station comprises processing circuitry which determines that a neighbor radio base station does not provide a beamformed reference signal to the user equipment. The neighbor radio base station controls the transmission in its neighbor radio cell of an omni-directional reference signal and the beamformed reference signal. A transmitter transmits a reference signal request to the neighbor radio base station. The reference signal request requests the neighbor radio base station to provide the beamformed reference signal to the user equipment. A receiver receives from the neighbor radio base station a reference signal request response, including information on the transmission of the requested beamformed reference signal. The transmitter transmits a notification to the user equipment, comprising information on the requested beamformed reference signal.

The UE comprises processing circuitry, which in operation, determines at least one radio link via which a first base station is to forward data packets to the user equipment. The user equipment is connectable to both the first base station via a first radio link and to a second base station via a second radio link. The UE further comprises a transmitter, which in operation, transmits a radio link selection message to the first base station. The radio link selection message comprises information on the determined at least one radio link for instructing the first base station via which at least one radio link to forward the data packets to the user equipment.

    Abstract: The layer processing includes at least processing on a first, a second and a third layer. At the transmitter side, the third layer receives a packet, adds its header and forwards the packet to the second layer. The second layer performs segmentation and provides segmented data to the first layer, which maps the segmented data onto physical resources. The segmentation is based on the allocated resources. Retransmissions may take place on the third layer and thus, the third layer may re-segment the packet according to the received feedback for particular segments and provide the re-segmented data to the lower layers. Alternatively, the feedback information is provided to the second layer which then performs the segmentation by taking it into account. Correspondingly, the receiver performs re-ordering and re-assembly at the third layer for which it receives also control information from the second layer.
