Patent number: 7771955Abstract: Compositions and methods are taught for directing the orientation of an immobilized capture biomolecule on a hydrophobic membrane. The method comprises layering at least one tie layer on a hydrophobic membrane, adding an amine functional layer on top of at least one tie layer; and attaching an alignment biomolecule to the amine functional layer. The alignment biomolecule has the ability to either capture a target biomolecule itself and thus be considered a capture biomolecule, or bind and orient the immobilized capture biomolecule so as to maximize the binding activity of the immobilized capture biomolecule. In one embodiment, a nickel-coordinated amine functional layer binds with a histidine-tagged alignment biomolecule. In another embodiment, an amine functional layer reacts, via tyrosinase catalysis, with a tyrosine residue in an alignment biomolecule.Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 2006Date of Patent: August 10, 2010Assignee: University of MarylandInventors: Timothy Alan Barbari, Sufi Rizwan Ahmed

Publication number: 20090310654Abstract: Methods and apparatus for code phase processing in a wireless communication device are described herein. A wireless device performs code phase search on a pseudo random code spread signal received over a wireless channel. A correlator correlates the received signal to a plurality of code phases in each of a plurality of frequency hypothesis. A maximum peak and a second peak are determined from the correlation results. Cross correlation processing is performed on the maximum peak and the maximum peak is discarded in favor of the second peak for position processing based on the results of the cross correlation.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 14, 2008Publication date: December 17, 2009Applicant: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Rizwan Ahmed, Emilija M. Patent number: 7366028Abstract: A flash memory system including a flash memory device and a controller, operable according to an advanced data transfer mode is disclosed. The flash memory device is operable both in a “legacy” mode, in which read data is presented by the memory synchronously with each cycle of a read data strobe from the controller, and in which input data is latched by the memory synchronously with each cycle of a write data strobe from the controller. In the advanced mode, which can be initiated by the controller forwarding an initiation command to the memory, the flash memory itself sources the read data strobe, and presents data synchronously with both the falling and rising edges of that read data strobe. In the advanced mode, the input data is presented by the controller synchronously with both edges of the write data strobe. The voltage swing of the data and control signals is reduced from conventional standards, to reduce power consumption.Type: GrantFiled: April 24, 2006Date of Patent: April 29, 2008Assignee: SanDisk CorporationInventors: Yishai Kagan, Rizwan Ahmed, Farookh Moogat

Patent number: 6885253Abstract: A phase-locked loop includes a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) to generate a plurality of quadrature-phase signals at one-half an output frequency in response to bias signals. The VCO also includes a times-two multiplier biased by the bias signals to generate the output frequency from the quadrature-phase signals. The bias signals include a load-element bias signal to concurrently bias load elements of buffer stages of the VCO and substantially identical load elements of the multiplier. The bias signal also include a current-source bias signal to concurrently bias current sources of the buffer stages of the VCO and a substantially identical buffer stage of the multiplier. The VCO operating at one-half the output frequency together with the multiplier may consume less power than the VCO when operating at the output frequency.Type: GrantFiled: June 2, 2003Date of Patent: April 26, 2005Assignee: Intel CorporationInventor: Rizwan Ahmed
