  • Publication number: 20190278733
Abstract: Disclosed herein are two-wire communication systems and applications thereof. In some embodiments, a slave node transceiver for low latency communication may include upstream transceiver circuitry to receive a first signal transmitted over a two-wire bus from an upstream device and to provide a second signal over the two-wire bus to the upstream device; downstream transceiver circuitry to provide a third signal downstream over the two-wire bus toward a downstream device and to receive a fourth signal over the two-wire bus from the downstream device; and clock circuitry to generate a clock signal at the slave node transceiver based on a preamble of a synchronization control frame in the first signal, wherein timing of the receipt and provision of signals over the two-wire bus by the node transceiver is based on the clock signal.

  • Patent number: 10360926
Abstract: Many processes for audio signal processing can benefit from voice activity detection, which aims to detect the presence of speech as opposed to silence or noise. The present disclosure describes, among other things, leveraging energy-based features of voice and insights on first and second formant frequencies of vowels to provide a low-complexity and low-power voice activity detector. A pair of two channels is provided whereby each channel is configured to detect voice activity in respective frequency bands of interest. Simultaneous activity detected in both channels can be a sufficient condition for determining that voice is present. More channels or pairs of channels can be used to detect different types of voices to improve detection and/or to detect voices present in different audio streams.

  • Patent number: 10345783
Abstract: A control system having packaged sets of control logic, referred to as templates. A template may be deployed in a system many times to solve a system's needs. Upon deployment, the user may need to perform many binding operations. The present system and approach may greatly reduce the labor involved in deploying control templates and in templates configuring a system of devices. Semantic tagging may be used. When designing a template, binding hints may be provided for each entity in the template that requires binding upon deployment. The binding hints may be used as a search predicate. When a template is deployed into a control space, a search query with binding hints for each bindable entity defined, may automatically be executed against the control space. If there is a single result for a bindable entity, then it may be automatically bound. If there are multiple results, a user may be prompted to choose from a results list.

  • Patent number: 10285651
Abstract: Activity monitors and smart watches utilizing optical measurements are becoming widely popular, and users expect to get an increasingly accurate estimate of their heart rate (HR) from these devices. These devices are equipped with a light source and an optical sensor which enable estimation of HR using a technique called photoplethysmography (PPG). One of the main challenges of HR estimation using PPG is the coupling of motion into the optical PPG signal when the user is moving randomly or exercising. The present disclosure describes a computationally feasible and fast HR estimation algorithm to be executed at instances of little or no motion. Resulting HR readings may be useful on their own, or be provided to systems that monitor HR continuously to prevent the problem of such systems being locked on an incorrect HR for long periods of time. Implementing techniques described herein leads to more accurate HR measurements.

  • Patent number: 10245775
Abstract: Embodiments of the provided technology relate to methods, devices, and systems that drive a transfer of the digital profile of residual limb contours to a thermoplastic article such as a prosthetic socket strut. A method of reforming a thermoplastic article to assume a desired shape, such as a contour that replicates or is complementary to the contour of a body portion, may include heating a thermoplastic article to render the article malleable. The method may further include placing the thermoplastic article against a molding surface having a desired shape that replicates the portion of the body part. Next, the thermoplastic article may be pressed against the molding surface with a compliant molding press to reform at least a portion of the article into the desired shape. The reformed thermoplastic article may then be removed from the molding surface, the article retaining the desired shape after removal.
