Abstract: Systems and methods for drape forming a charge of composite material are disclosed herein. The systems include a forming mandrel, a charge support structure, a flexible and resilient forming membrane, a base, and a vacuum source. The charge support structure includes a flexible and resilient charge support membrane, a membrane suspension device, and a release structure. The release structure operatively couples the charge support membrane to the membrane suspension device when a tension on a peripheral region of the charge support membrane is less than a threshold tension and releases the charge support membrane from the membrane suspension device when the tension is greater than the threshold tension. Alternatively, and in place of the charge support structure, the systems include a means for supporting the charge of composite material. The methods include methods of drape forming a charge of composite material.

  • Publication number: 20190012719
Abstract: Implementations include systems and methods for scoring candidates for set recommendation problems. An example method includes repeating, for each code in code arrays for items in a set of items, determining a most common value for the code. In some implementations, the method includes determining that the most common value occurs with a frequency that meets an occurrence threshold and adding the code and the most common value to set-inclusion criteria. In other implementations, the method includes determining a value for the code from a code array for a seed item and adding the code and the most common value to set-inclusion criteria when the value for the code from the code array for the seed item matches the most common value. The method may also include evaluating a similarity with a candidate item based on the set-inclusion criteria and basing a recommendation regarding the candidate item on the similarity.

  • Publication number: 20190005563
Abstract: A server automatically generates a response on behalf of second users to a request received from a first user. A first stage of matching is performed that includes determining which of the second users match a requested location and request type. A second stage of matching is performed for each second user that includes computing a value that quantifies a likelihood of the first user selecting that second user to fulfill the request, and determining a capacity of the second user to fulfill the request. Some of the second users are selected based at least in part on the computed value and the determined capacity of each of the second users. A response is automatically generating for each of the selected second users. The generated responses are transmitted to the first user.

  • Publication number: 20190005562
Abstract: A server receives a request for a service from a first user that defines a location for the service and a category of the service. A first stage of matching is performed that includes determining second users that match the location and category. A second stage of matching is performed that includes performing for each second user: computing a first value that quantifies an attractiveness of the request to that second user, computing a second value that quantifies a likelihood of the first user selecting that second user to fulfill the request, and computing a third value based at least in part on the computed first and second values. A request for the service is transmitted to at least some of the second users whose computed third value exceeds a first threshold value.

  • Publication number: 20180345485
Abstract: An automated kitchen assistant system inspects a food preparation area in the kitchen environment using a novel sensor combination. The combination of sensors includes an Infrared (IR) camera that generates IR image data and at least one secondary sensor that generates secondary image data. The IR image data and secondary image data are processed to obtain combined image data. A trained convolutional neural network is employed to automatically compute an output based on the combined image data. The output includes information about the identity and the location of the food item. The output may further be utilized to command a robotic arm, kitchen worker, or otherwise assist in food preparation. Related methods are also described.

  • Publication number: 20180331752
Abstract: Technology for a repeater configured to perform variable bandwidth filtering of signals is disclosed. The repeater can include a signal path for a radio frequency (RF) signal. The signal path can include a fixed-bandwidth low pass filter (LPF) operable to perform a variable bandwidth filtering of the RF signal to produce a channelized signal. The variable bandwidth filtering at the LPF can be performed by adjusting a first variable local oscillator (LO). The signal path can include a fixed-bandwidth high pass filter (HPF) operable to perform a variable bandwidth filtering of a channelized signal output from the LPF. The variable bandwidth filtering at the HPF can be performed by adjusting a second variable LO. The first variable LO and the second variable LO can be set to create a variable bandwidth that enables the repeater to perform variable bandwidth filtering of the signals.
