  • Patent number: 10626676
Abstract: A drill bit comprises a first and a second body received within the first body. Each of the first body and second body has a respective crown, each crown having an inner and an outer operative circumference. The outer operative circumference of the second body and the inner operative circumference of the first body can define a first volume that can receive a tubular core sample. The second body can define a break surface that breaks the tubular core sample into core pieces. The drill bit can be employed in a borehole with a reverse circulation system that pumps fluid around an outer surface of the bit, and returning fluid can carry the core pieces out of the borehole.

  • Patent number: 10612476
Abstract: According to one or more embodiments, an internal combustion engine may be operated by a method which includes one or more of injecting a first fuel and a second fuel into an engine cylinder to form a fuel mixture, and combusting the fuel mixture with a spark plug to translate a piston housed in the engine cylinder and rotate a crank shaft coupled to the piston. The first fuel may comprise a greater octane rating than the second fuel. A target CA50 may correspond to a minimum in specific fuel consumption of the fuel mixture. The spark plug may initiate combustion at a time such that the internal combustion engine operates with an operational CA50 that is within 20 degrees of the target CA50.

  • Publication number: 20200093663
Abstract: The embodiments described and claimed herein are a restraint system for securing a gurney in a vehicle. In one embodiment, a conventional antler and rail-type gurney restraint system is improved by the addition of a center latch restraint that engages with a latch member secured by a support bracket to the underside of the gurney. In one configuration, the latch member enters into engagement with the center latch restraint through lateral movement of the control end of the gurney. In that respect, the EMT may use the same autonomic movements used with the conventional antler and rail-type system to secure the gurney in the vehicle. Optionally, one or more of the gurney occupant restraint belts are directly connected to the support bracket, whereby occupant loads during an accident will bypass the gurney and occupant head excursions can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 10585675
Abstract: Improved techniques for running different flavors of a service in different host environments. Each service is defined by a service type and host environment in which the service can be run. The techniques employ a service loader for obtaining the service type and host environment data, and loading a service flavor based on the service type and host environment data. By providing a service loader that, in response to a service request, can access host environment data from an operating system, access metadata describing host environments in which service objects for an application can be run, and determine which service flavor to load based on the service type and host environment data, appropriate service flavors can be loaded onto a system while avoiding application hanging and/or errors conditions due to a mismatch between a current host environment and the host environments in which a service object can be successfully run.

  • Publication number: 20200074985
Abstract: A method for providing a frame-based mel spectral representation of speech includes receiving a text utterance having at least one word, and selecting a mel spectral embedding for the text utterance. Each word in the text utterance has at least one syllable and each syllable has at least one phoneme. For each phoneme, using the selected mel spectral embedding, the method also includes: predicting a duration of the corresponding phoneme by encoding linguistic features of the corresponding phoneme with a corresponding syllable embedding for the syllable that includes the corresponding phoneme; and generating a plurality of fixed-length predicted mel-frequency spectrogram frames based on the predicted duration for the corresponding phoneme. Each fixed-length predicted mel-frequency spectrogram frame representing mel-spectral information of the corresponding phoneme.

  • Patent number: 10578013
Abstract: The disclosed inventive concept allows an underlying component requiring servicing to be serviced without removing the heat shield entirely. The heat shield has two ends and an intermediate bendable area that allows it to flex, thereby giving the service technician access to the underlying component when only some of the fasteners are removed. The intermediate area of the heat shield is formed from a series of parallel and alternating ridges and grooves. The intermediate area of the heat shield is nominally flat and straight while the bellows are formed in the straight area by a process such as stamping. This combination of a flat and bellow enables the heat shield to be bent out of position and then restored to the original position after service. The heat shield may be entirely formed from a metal or the intermediate bendable area may be composed of a polymerized material such as rubber.

  • Patent number: 10536123
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for volume interactions for connected playback devices. In an example implementation, a first playback device applies a state variable update associated with a group of playback devices comprising the first playback device and one or more second playback devices. The state variable update indicates a limited volume range associated with the first playback device. The first playback device renders audio content in synchrony with the one or more second playback devices. Rendering the audio content involves a subwoofer speaker of the first playback device rendering a bass frequency component of the audio content. The first playback device receives input data indicating a group volume adjustment for the group of playback devices and adjusting a playback volume of the first playback device based on the group volume adjustment and the limited volume range.

  • Patent number: 10530758
Abstract: Embodiments are directed towards managing name service communications. A name service device may be arranged to employ a hardware domain name service (DNS) processor to receive a name service query. The hardware DNS processor may perform operations on the name service query. If operations performed by the hardware DNS processor do not resolve the name service query, further operations may be performed. The name service device may be arranged to provide a name service reply that includes the answer to the name service query. And, the name service device may be arranged to send the name service reply back to the hardware DNS processor. Accordingly, the hardware DNS processor on the name service device may send the name service reply that includes at least an answer to the name service query to the requesting computers.

Other embodiments include steps of delivering (e.g., broadcasting), decoding, and/or rendering such a program. Rendering of audio objects indicated by the program may provide an immersive experience. The audio content of the program may be indicative of multiple object channels (e.g., object channels indicative of user-selectable and user-configurable objects, and typically also a default set of objects which will be rendered in the absence of a selection by a user) and a bed of speaker channels. Another aspect is an audio processing unit (e.g., encoder or decoder) configured to perform, or which includes a buffer memory which stores at least one frame (or other segment) of an object based audio program (or bitstream thereof) generated in accordance with, any embodiment of the method.
