Publication number: 20060057156Abstract: The invention provides methods of inducing immune tolerance to target antigens in individuals seropositive for certain infectious agents by administration of epitopes derived from those infectious agents. Epitopes derived from viruses which carry homologues of interleukin 10 (IL-10) in their genome, such as Epstein Barr Virus and cytomegalovirus, are particularly suitable for these purposes. Particularly preferred is the use of the EBV LMP1 protein and epitopes thereof.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 24, 2003Publication date: March 16, 2006Inventors: Robert Barker, Neil Marshall, Mark Vickers

Publication number: 20060005086Abstract: A method for providing for the graceful degradation of the performance and functionality of a distributed computer application. A plurality of sensors monitor the performance and availability of various external resources and/or services required by the application, as well as the performance of various components of the application, and report the information to one or more controllers. The controllers make decisions based on rule-based criteria as to how to modify the behavior of the application according to the performance and availability of the various required resources and services. The controllers send messages to one or more actuators which effect the change in behavior of the application. A console displays the status of the system and allows users to modify the rules used to modify the behavior of the application.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 1, 2005Publication date: January 5, 2006Inventors: Patrick Stephenson, Robert Barker

Publication number: 20050069544Abstract: Pharmaceutical compositions and methods are provided for the prevention of a condition resulting from the alloimmunisation or autoimmunity of a subject or the immunosuppression of a response elicited by alloimmunisation or autoimmunity of a subject by tolerisation. These compositions contain an immunologically effective amount of an epitope from a rhesus protein or a peptide fragment, an immunoreactive analogue or derivative or a cross-reaction sequence thereof.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 4, 2003Publication date: March 31, 2005Inventors: Stanislaw Urbaniak, Robert Barker

Patent number: 6857371Abstract: The two-payload decoy device has a square outer case, containing a manifold/delay body assembly, a round payload assembly, and a square payload assembly. The square outer case is closed with an end cap. The manifold/delay body assembly is attached to the round payload assembly, which rests against the square payload assembly. Firing a standard impulse cartridge ignites a booster pellet and delay element in the manifold/delay body assembly. Gases flow through openings in the manifold/delay body assembly and down the corner cavities between the round payload assembly and the square case, pushing the square piston against the square payload, which separates the end cap from the case and ejects the square payload. The delay element burns for a specific time, and then ignites a round payload expulsion charge, which creates gases that push the round piston against the round payload, which dislodges a retaining ring, and ejects the round payload.Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 2003Date of Patent: February 22, 2005Assignee: The United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the NavyInventors: Donald Lagrange, Douglas Shulte, Robert Barker, Charles Howard, Richard Hall, David Dillard

Patent number: 6116246Abstract: A smokeless ashtray includes an ashtray that is formed with an ash receiving cavity and air passageway. The ashtray is supported by a housing having an upper portion which forms an air intake substantially adjacent to the ash receiving cavity, and a bottom portion which removably receives the ashtray. The bottom portion also includes a motor filter receiving space and is formed with an exhaust aperture. A motor is mounted within the motor filter receiving space with a fan being connected thereto such that the fan is located below the ashtray. The smokeless ashtray also includes an ashtray filter and/or a motor filter. The air passageway of the ashtray is configured to receive the ashtray filter while the motor filter receiving space within bottom portion of the housing is configured to receive the motor filter.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 1998Date of Patent: September 12, 2000Assignee: Holmes Products Corp.Inventors: Neville R. Patent number: 5658130Abstract: A window mounted oscillating fan. The fan has two blower modules each having a motor, fan blade, and diffuser. The diffuser is fixed in a stationary position relative to its fan blade. The window fan oscillates by pivoting all blower modules simultaneously through a single motorized oscillation mechanism. The blower units may be arranged to discharge air in parallel, or alternatively, in different directions. The blower units pivot about an axis inclined from the vertical, so that oscillation has a vertical component as well as horizontal. In different embodiments, the fans operate in tandem, facing the same direction at all times, or oscillate in different directions, thereby diffusing incoming air. The window fan has an air filter, and manual and automatic controls including a touch sensitive on-off switch, a thermostatic on-off switch, and a speed selector.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 1995Date of Patent: August 19, 1997Assignee: Holmes Products Corp.Inventors: Andrew Goldstein, David Feer, Robert Barker

Patent number: 5485932Abstract: A wall or room partition mountable modular rail rack component mounting system. The system includes wall racks shaped for interlocking engagement with each other at their opposite ends and cross stiffener members for placement between the wall rails to hold them in rigid space apart relationship. The wall rails each having a shaped opening at one end and a mating element at the other end thereof. The shaped opening and the mating element interlock with each other. The dimensions and spacings of openings and elements on the wall rails and rail racks for mounting thereon provide for rail racks mounted in vertically aligned closely space relationship that gives uninterrupted rail rack placement.Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 1994Date of Patent: January 23, 1996Assignee: Digital Equipment CorporationInventors: Michael Romm, Robert A.
