  • Publication number: 20070218236
Abstract: A re-sealable two-ply in-mold label having a base ply with temperature activated adhesive on its bottom surface and a re-sealable top ply adhered to its upper surface. Two zones of different adhesion intersecure the two plies. A permanent adhesive zone permanently intersecures a margin portion of the two plies to prevent them from being fully separated from one another. A releasable adhesive zone releasably intersecures the remaining portions of the plies. Also disclosed is a method for applying the label to an object including placing the label in a mold, molding an article within the mold thereby activating the adhesive, and removing the article with the label adhered thereto from the mold.

  • Publication number: 20070175322
Abstract: Circuitry in a wireless remote control apparatus applies a signal to a sensor plate of the device and detects the field, e.g. to sense a parameter related to the field that is responsive to relative position of a part of the body of the operator. In the example, the field generation and sensing are performed during a first time slice. During a second time slice, a reference voltage is applied to the plate, and a transmitter sends a signal via an antenna representing the sensed field state. During the first time slice, however, there is no transmission from the antenna, and the antenna functions as a shield with respect to a lead connecting the circuitry to the plate. The antenna comprises a coaxial conductor around a portion of the electrical lead, and a dielectric material separates the electrical lead and the antenna. The example takes the form of a ring.

  • Publication number: 20070124488
Abstract: The invention relates to an enhanced ADSL Data Network (ADN) with vertical services capabilities. In general, vertical services capabilities are data services offered directly from a central office to an end user, without compromising the integrity of the user's guaranteed bit rate to the Internet through the ADN. One such vertical service is content downloadable at a high data rate from a content server located in or proximate to a central office that serves the end user. The content of the local server is updated and upgraded periodically and systematically from a central content server that distributes content to a number of remote central offices. The content is distributed between the central content server and the respective local content servers using available bandwidth, that is to say bandwidth on at least certain network links that is unused by subscriber traffic.

  • Patent number: 7073351
Abstract: An engagement set includes a wedding band and an engagement ring to which the wedding band is removably coupled. The shank of the wedding band when joined together with the engagement ring may be inclined relative to the shank of the engagement ring to form an “X” configuration and thereby to symbolize a “kiss”. The engagement set may be joined by a locking mechanism formed of a locking feature on the wedding band and a corresponding recess on the inner surface of the front of the engagement ring. The locking feature and the recess may have an emotionally symbolic shape such as a heart shape or an “X”. There may be an inclined groove at an inner surface of the back of the engagement ring to accommodate the shank of the wedding band when the rings are coupled together.

  • Publication number: 20060126659
Abstract: Supporting virtual private networks by using a new layer 3 address to encapsulate a network-bound packet so that its context information, from which a layer 2 (e.g., MAC) address can be derived, is preserved. If this encapsulation was not done, the layer 2 address would change over each segment of the network. Thus, the encapsulation preserves the concept of group identification, using at least a part of the context, over the entire network and not just at the edge of the network. If a packet is received from the network (to be forwarded to a customer), the layer 3 address that was added in the encapsulation is stripped off. The original layer 3 destination address may be used with a client device addressing table to determine a new context information, and a layer 2 (e.g., MAC) address of a destination client device.

  • Publication number: 20060098670
Abstract: Offering vertical services to subscribers and service providers is an avenue to immediately improve the competitiveness of digital subscriber line access service, for example of the type offered by a local exchange carrier. To deliver high-quality vertical services, however, the underlying ADSL Data Network (ADN) or the like needs to establish Quality of Service (QoS) as a core characteristic and offer an efficient mechanism for insertion of the vertical services. The inventive network architecture introduces QoS into the ADN, in a manner that enables the delivery of sophisticated and demanding IP-based services to subscribers, does not affect existing Internet tiers of service, and is cost-effective in terms of initial costs, build-out, and ongoing operations.

  • Publication number: 20050275152
Abstract: A sheet feed mechanism having a multi-layer structure. The multi-layer structure has a wear layer adapted to contact a sheet during sheet feeding and a replacement indicator layer adjacent the wear layer. The replacement indicator layer is adapted to indicate a wear condition of the multi-layer structure upon wear through the wear layer to the replacement indicator layer.

  • Publication number: 20050157664
Abstract: Limiting or controlling access to various services thereby performing a firewall function. An access router may permit or deny a packet based on at least a portion of a unique bit string (or context information) which replaced layer 2 header information (e.g., the layer 2 (e.g., MAC) address). Further, a particular quality of service may be indicated by at least a part of the unique bit string (or context information). The service provided to a group of customers, that group of customers being defined by at least a portion of the unique bit string (or context information), may be monitored. Multicast groups may be supported by checking at least a part of the unique bit string (or context information) to determine whether or not a customer associated with that port is permitted to join the multicast group.

  • Patent number: 6808223
Abstract: This invention describes a novel two way hinge for motor vehicle doors that hinges open at a 20 degree angle, then rotates upward 45 degrees. The motor vehicle door is maintained in the open position by a shock absorber/piston arrangement that is common in the automotive industry. The invention described herein can be installed by an aftermarket shop and/or sold as an easily installed kit. The present invention overcomes the shortcomings of existing hinges by allowing greater access for ingress and egress from existing motor vehicle doors in tight parking situations.

  • Patent number: 6718796
Abstract: The back portion of an omega-back earring is formed by investment casting and then heat-treated to have spring gold characteristics. A rear surface of the ornamental front portion of the earring includes a depression to present a concave profile which is complementary to the convex profile of the pushing part of the rear portion of the earring. In a non-identical mirror-image pair of earrings, a design element such as a small precious stone is provided on only one of the earring pair, at an inconspicuous spot, to aid the wearer in distinguishing the right earring from the left earring.

  • Patent number: 6123141
Abstract: A process for fabricating a hollow or partially hollow article, such as a jewelry ring, comprises producing a first mold having an inner cavity shaped in accordance with the external shape of the article to be produced. A second mold is produced for forming a wax core insert which is inserted in the first mold cavity for forming the hollow region of the article. The second mold has an inner cavity formed in the shape of, but slightly smaller than, the external shape of the article. The cavity of the second mold has holes which form spacer pins on the wax core insert. The wax core insert is then placed in the cavity of the first mold and is maintained in a precise, predetermined position by the spacer pins. During waxing of the article, a plastiwax is introduced into and fills the cavity of the first mold, completely surrounding the wax core insert. The plastiwax hardens and is removed from the first mold cavity with the wax core insert.
