  • Publication number: 20090150373
Abstract: The disclosure describes systems and methods for synchronizing data on a network based on temporal, spatial, social and logical data available to the network. The method includes receiving a first information object (IO) containing attributes for a first real-world entity (RWE), the first IO associated with a second RWE; identifying one or more second IOs, each second IO containing one or more attributes for the first RWE and each second IO independently associated with a third RWE; generating a different probability for each IO based on a comparison of contents of the first and second IOs and their associated RWEs; and replacing one or more of the attributes in at least one IO with at least one attribute from a different IO based on the probabilities for each IO.

  • Publication number: 20090150489
Abstract: The disclosure describes systems and methods delivering communications associated with delivery conditions in which the occurrence of the delivery condition is determined by monitoring information received from a plurality of sources via multiple communication channels. The message delivery systems allow messages to be delivered to any “Who, What, When, Where” from any “Who, What, When, Where” upon the detection of an occurrence of one or more “Who, What, When, Where” delivery conditions. A message (which may be any data object including text-based messages, audio-based message such as voicemail or other audio such as music or video-based prerecorded messages) is delivered in accordance with delivery conditions based on any available data, including topical, spatial, temporal, and/or social data.

  • Patent number: 7479860
Abstract: A magnetic field generating assembly comprising a set (A1-A3;B1-B3;C1-C3) of, typically substantially coaxial, coils substantially symmetrically arranged about a plane orthogonal to the axis. At least some of the coils carry working currents in the opposite sense to the other coils The arrangement of turns and working currents carried by the coils is such that a first working volume (10) with a substantially homogeneous magnetic field is generated within the envelope defined by the assembly, and two second working volumes (11) each with a substantially homogeneous magnetic field are generated outside the envelope, the homogeneity of each of the first and second working volumes being sufficient to perform a NMR experiment on a sample in the working volume.

  • Publication number: 20090012841
Abstract: A method, system, and apparatus are directed to communicating data over a network. Event attributes comprising at least two of a temporal, spatial, social, or topical information are received. An event structure comprising fields associated with a different one of a temporal, spatial, social, or topical dimension based on the received event attributes is generated. An advertising attributes about an advertisement is received. The advertising attributes may comprise at least two of another temporal, spatial, social, or topical information. If the event structure matches the advertising attributes, the advertisement may be provided co-located with the event structure. The advertisement may be configured to provide a value exchange if the advertisement is activated.

  • Publication number: 20070198072
Abstract: A method and apparatus for cooling a human being utilizes skin temperature feedback to control the amount of cooling. When the measured skin temperature reaches a preset high temperature, the human being is cooled until the measured skin temperature reaches a preset low temperature, and then cooling of the human being stops. In one embodiment, the preset high temperature is about 35 degrees Centigrade and the preset low temperature is about 33 degrees Centigrade. Cooling of the human being resumes whenever the preset high temperature is reached and pauses whenever the preset low temperature is reached to thereby provide intermittent cooling to the human being. The invention is also applicable to heating a human being.

  • Publication number: 20050233182
Abstract: A fuel cell system that employs an oxygen sensor for measuring the oxygen concentration in the cathode exhaust gas from the fuel cell stack. A controller provides a signal that drives a compressor providing air to a cathode input of the stack so that the compressor provides the desired oxygen to achieve the desired cathode lambda. In one embodiment, the fuel cell system also employs an airflow meter that measures the amount of air being applied to the compressor. The controller compares the oxygen input applied to the stack to the oxygen output from the stack for diagnostic purposes, such as determining the presence of leaks. A temperature sensor can be employed to measure the temperature of the cathode exhaust and a pressure sensor can be employed to measure the pressure of the cathode exhaust to compensate for water vapor in the cathode exhaust.

  • Publication number: 20050100954
Abstract: Provided are four new fluorescent proteins. The proteins were derived from two wild-type fluorescent proteins: a red fluorescent protein (RFP) that was isolated from Actinodiscus or Discosoma sp. 1 and a green fluorescent protein (GFP) isolated from Montastraea cavernosa. Two mutant forms were generated from each wild-type protein. Each of the mutated forms has a higher fluorescence intensity than the respective wild-type form. The mutant forms of the fluorescent proteins allow for more sensitive detection of the fluorescence emitted by the proteins. Additionally, one of the mutant proteins is more resistant to photobleaching than its wild-type protein. The invention also encompasses isolated nucleic acids encoding the mutant forms of the wild-type RFP and GFP.

  • Patent number: 6590794
Abstract: The present invention discloses apparatus and a method for measuring the motor current in an AC drive system in which the DC link current in a voltage source inverter (20) is separated into a transistor current, and a diode current, and then measured separately with shunts (22, 24). This results in two independent non-isolated current measurements and allows for a more accurate calculation of the magnitude of the motor current. (FIG.
