  • Publication number: 20100009798
Abstract: A differential system for a front wheel drive vehicle. The differential system includes a differential carrier (24), an actuator housing {44), an intermediate shaft (32), a clutch pack (42), and a piston (40). The differential carrier (24) houses a differential assembly (16) configured to drive a right and left axle shaft. The actuator housing (44) is configured to rotate in conjunction with the differential carrier (24). The intermediate shaft (32) extends through the actuator housing (44). The clutch pack (42) has a first set of clutch plates (46) that engage the actuator housing (44} and a second set of clutch plates (48) that engage the intermediate shaft (32). The piston (40) compresses the first and second set of clutch plates {46, 48) thereby frictionaiiy coupling the differential carrier (24) to the intermediate shaft (32) and thus locking or modulating the differential.

  • Publication number: 20090140836
Abstract: A system includes a translator device that is configured to receive, using a pre-programmed native mode of operation, a first barrier actuation code transmitted by a transmitter according to a first code format. The translator device then analyzes the first barrier actuation code and verifies that it is a valid code. When a valid code, the translator device saves the information contained in the code, and creates a second barrier actuation code at least in part from information contained in the first actuation code and transmits the second barrier actuation code according to the second code format, which is different from the first code format. A barrier operator is coupled to the translator device and a barrier. The barrier operator has a receiver apparatus and the receiver apparatus receives the second barrier actuation code. The barrier operator determines whether the second barrier actuation code is valid, and when the barrier actuation code is determined to be valid, actuates the barrier.

  • Publication number: 20080271159
Abstract: A user's set top box (STB), or other client, executes a shell and has an application program interface (API) by which certain features of the client can be controlled. The client is in communication with a walled garden proxy server (WGPS), which controls access to a walled garden. The walled garden contains links to one or more servers providing network-based services. The client sends a request to the WGPS to access a service provided by a site in the garden. To provide the service, the site sends the client a message containing code calling a function in the API. The WGPS traps the message from the site and looks up the site in a table to determine the access control list (ACL) for the site. The ACL is a bit-map that specifies which functions of the client's API can be invoked by code from the site. The WGPS includes the ACL in the header of the hypertext transport protocol (HTTP) message to the client. The shell receives the message and extracts the ACL.

  • Patent number: 7432676
Abstract: A barrier movement operator includes an A.C. motor having a rotatable rotor connected to a barrier for movement thereof. A sensing apparatus generates motor signals representing an operational variable of the motor. The movement of the barrier is controlled by a controller, which responds to the motor signals by selectively stopping rotation of the rotor or reversing the rotation of the rotor. A power control arrangement provides energizing power to the motor by receiving AC power input substantially in the form of a sine wave and conducts portions of successive cycles of the sine wave of the received AC power to the motor to enhance the sensed operational variable to torque characteristic of the motor.

  • Publication number: 20080015916
Abstract: The present invention discloses a solution for a private business registry that includes trust status attributes that automatically change based upon business events in accordance with a set of configurable rules. The programmatic service for adjusting trust status attributes can remain resident on a server that manages the private business registry and can monitor activity that constitutes a variety of business processes as described in the services profile. The profile can and must be customized by a target enterprise. When business transactions occur between the target enterprise and one or more candidate enterprises (e.g., seeking enterprises) wishing to conduct business with the target enterprise, the resident service can compare transaction specifics against a ruleset contained in the profile. When the occurrence of the event causes a threshold to be met (via ruleset execution) the resident service can then change a value of the trust status attribute of a seeking entity.

  • Patent number: 7205735
Abstract: A barrier movement operator which uses an A.C. motor to move a barrier is disclosed herein. The operator senses a characteristic of barrier movement, such as motor rotation speed, to detect when the barrier contacts an obstruction. The motor and/or the circuitry for applying electrical power to the motor have been enhanced to improve the detectibility of contact with an obstruction.

  • Publication number: 20070054644
Abstract: A wireless transmit-only apparatus (20) has a controller (21) that responds to a user interface 25 by correlating specific user input with a corresponding characterizing transmission parameter(s) as is stored in a memory (35) and by selecting a corresponding resonant device (31 and 32). The latter devices serve to drive the PLL control input of a phase locked loop (23) to thereby influence the transmission carrier frequency of a wireless transmitter (22). • Publication number: 20070023211
Abstract: An auxiliary electric drive assembly includes an alternating current induction motor, planetary speed reduction gearing and a differential. The differential may be either active or passive. The auxiliary drive system is utilized as the front axle in a rear wheel drive vehicle and the rear axle in a front wheel drive vehicle. Elimination of many of the components in a conventional four wheel drive system such as the transfer case and hybrid gears improves the overall efficiency and fuel economy of a vehicle so equipped.

  • Patent number: 7119509
Abstract: A force reversal value for an installed barrier is identified. The force reversal value is compared to a predetermined threshold. When the comparing indicates that the force reversal value exceeds the predetermined threshold, the operation of the moveable barrier operator is halted. A secondary safety device can then be installed and, responsive to the installing, the operator can be reenabled.

  • Patent number: 7042183
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for controlling the speed of an A.C. induction motor are disclosed and shown in operation for controlling the movement of a barrier. Included are voltage configuration circuits which selectively gate portions of the half-cycles of AC mains voltage to the induction motor. When the motor is started increasing amounts of mains AC voltage is applied to the motor and decreasing portions of the mains AC are applied to the motor during a stopping routine. The motor can also be energized with less than full mains AC to permit differences in barrier movement speed dependent on operating parameters.

  • Publication number: 20060092165
Abstract: A virtual memory system that maintains a list of pages that are required to be resident in a frame buffer to guarantee the eventual forward progress of a graphics application context running on a graphics system composed of multiple clients. Pages that are required to be in the frame buffer memory are never swapped out of that memory. The required page list can be dynamically sized or fixed sized. A tag file is used to prevent page swapping of a page from the frame buffer that is required to make forward progress. A forward progress indicator signifies that a page faulting client has made forward progress on behalf of a context. The presence of a forward progress indicator is used to clear the tag file, thus enabling page swapping of the previously tagged pages from the frame buffer memory.
