  • Patent number: 7421241
Abstract: Parallel printing systems and methods incorporate inverter assemblies for not only inverting media during transport through the system but also to register the media or provide a velocity buffer transports with different drive velocities. The inverter assemblies can include the capability to optionally deskew the media and provide lateral registration corrections. The inverter assembly nip rollers are sufficiently spaced from process drive nip rollers to decouple a document in the inverter assembly from the highway paths. The method comprises combining the inverting function selectively with either the registering or the velocity buffering functions.

  • Patent number: 7388379
Abstract: A loop antenna useful, for example, in investigation of earth formations. Embodiments of the invention provide a loop antenna circuit comprising a loop antenna disposed to generate, in response to an electromagnetic wave, a pick-up signal on an output node. Loop antenna circuit further includes a tuning network coupled to the loop antenna. The tuning network is disposed to provide simultaneous tuning at a plurality of interrogation frequencies. Further embodiments include a preamplifier circuit coupled to the loop antenna. The preamplifier circuit is disposed to receive the pick-up signal on an input node and provide a high impedance load to the loop antenna for a first of the plurality of interrogation frequencies to reduce the secondary radiation from the loop antenna to below a predetermined value at the said first interrogation frequency.

  • Patent number: 7366983
Abstract: A spell checker based on the noisy channel model has a source model and an error model. The source model determines how likely a word w in a dictionary is to have been generated. The error model determines how likely the word w was to have been incorrectly entered as the string s (e.g., mistyped or incorrectly interpreted by a speech recognition system) according to the probabilities of string-to-string edits. The string-to-string edits allow conversion of one arbitrary length character sequence to another arbitrary length character sequence.

  • Publication number: 20080071396
Abstract: Tools are provided for allowing ready access to information relevant to events associated with the release of hazardous materials. The tools also facilitate characterization of the events and determination of appropriate emergency responses for the events. When an indication of a hazardous material release event is received, data including information associated with the transportation of hazardous materials may be accessed to characterize the hazardous material release event. Based on the characterized hazardous material release event, appropriate responses are determined that are tailored the specifics of the hazardous material release event.

  • Publication number: 20080015842
Abstract: The present invention learns phrase translation relationships by receiving a parallel aligned corpus with phrases to be learned identified in a source language. Candidate phrases in a target language are generated and an inside score is calculated based on word association scores for words inside the source language phrase and candidate phrase. An outside score is calculated based on word association scores for words outside the source language phrase and candidate phrase. The inside and outside scores are combined to obtain a joint score.

  • Publication number: 20080008929
Abstract: A tool system with a battery pack and a device that is configured to be selectively coupled to the battery pack. The battery pack has first, second and third pack terminals. The device has a battery mount with a body that defines a well and first and second device terminals. The body defines a well into which the battery pack is removably received. The first and second device terminals extend outwardly from a proximal portion of the battery mount and engage the first and second pack terminals when the battery pack is fully inserted into the well. At least one of the first and second pack terminals and the first and second device terminals is a male terminal that is received into a corresponding one of the first and second pack terminals and the first and second device terminals. A longitudinal axis of each of the first, second and third pack terminals is arranged parallel to a longitudinal axis of the battery pack.

  • Patent number: 7317459
Abstract: A graphics processor includes an embedded frame buffer for storing frame data prior to sending the frame data to an external location, such as main memory. A copy pipeline is provided which converts the data from one format to another format prior to writing the data to the external location. The conversion may be from one RGB color format to another RGB color format, from one YUV format to another YUV format, from an RGB color format to a YUV color format, or from a YUV color format to an RGB color format. MPEG image data initially stored in main memory in a YUV format as a texture is transferred to the embedded frame buffer prior to initiating a copy-out process via the copy pipeline from the embedded frame buffer to an external frame buffer in main memory. During the copy-out process, pixels are converted from YUV format to an RGB format.

  • Patent number: 7310108
Abstract: A printing system includes first and second marking engines which are operatively connected to each other for printing images onto print media. A print media transport system collects printed media from the marking engines. The print media transport system includes a common paper path which receives printed media from the first and second marking engines. A sensor element is associated with the common paper path for measuring an image quality parameter of printed media traveling thereon and generating a control signal therefrom. An image quality controller is in communication with the sensor element for adjusting image quality parameters in at least one of the first marking engine and second marking engine based on the control signal to reduce a variation in an image quality characteristic of printed images produced by the first and second marking engines.
