  • Patent number: 8090136
Abstract: An improved handheld electronic device has a case with an elongated cavity formed therein. An audio transducer is in fluid communication with the cavity, and a number of sound openings are formed in the case and are in fluid communication with the cavity and with the atmosphere surrounding the handheld electronic device. The sound openings are generally spaced from a central region of the audio transducer to space the sound openings generally farther from an edge of the case than the audio transducer. The cavity is configured to form a Helmholtz resonator that enables the communication of sound through the cavity between the audio transducer and the sound openings. The spacing of the sound openings from an edge of a case helps a user to form a seal between the case and the user's ear to enable sound from the sound openings to enter the ear and to be perceived by the user.

  • Publication number: 20110258861
Abstract: A substantially toroidal container for coiled vegetation trimmer line has a front shell and a rear shell capable of bonding at the center with heat and pressure, radio frequency, ultrasonic welding, adhesive, or attachment mechanisms. The bonding of the shells leaves a separation between the outer edges of the shells. The separation is nonlinear around the circumference of the container, so that a user can access the trimmer line, but the trimmer line cannot uncoil and spill out of the container. The separation is preferably defined by a series of offset uniform teeth on the outer edges of the shells. One or more teeth may be removed, providing a line aperture through which the end of the trimmer line extends out of the container. Male and female indices on each shell are used to align the teeth during packaging.

  • Publication number: 20110232106
Abstract: An improved head for a vegetation trimmer has a drop-down line reservoir that remains in cooperation with the head housing when the reservoir is in a load position. The reservoir fits inside the head housing and is biased against the housing for secure use. The reservoir is rotated to unlock it from the housing, whereby it drops down to allow access to the line in the reservoir. A user can add, remove, and manipulate line as desired without the inconvenience of detachable pieces. The reservoir can be pushed back into the housing and locked into place for use. The reservoir can also be placed in an advance position and rotated to advance more line through line openings in the housing as needed.

  • Patent number: 8027868
Abstract: Methods and computer-readable media having computer-usable instructions for evaluating, analyzing and displaying trade information for a user. Customer addresses are received, and then a buffer area is created around each of the customer address. The buffer area for each address is combined to generate at least one aggregated area that is then disaggregated to define a polygon which is useful for generating a density map that is added to a data base. The data base is analyzed to indicate an ideal retail location for a new store, and/or determine which retail store to relocate or close.

  • Patent number: 8017055
Abstract: A three-dimensional printer uses inkjet-type printheads to rapidly prototype, or print, a three-dimensional model. A powder feeder includes a conveyor system and a metering system to deliver powder to a build area in measured quantities. The powder feeder also includes a vacuum system for loading powder into a feed reservoir or chamber. The vacuum system can also be used to cleanup excess powder. Other powder control features include powder gutters and magnetic powder plows. During printing, a cleaning system operates to remove powder from the printheads. In the event of a printhead or jet failure, the failure can be detected and corrective measures taken automatically. After printing, the model can be depowdered and infiltrated in an enclosure.

  • Publication number: 20110061046
Abstract: A virtual workspace can include an active instance of a layered virtual file system namespace. A layered virtual file system namespace is referred to by the virtual workspace and includes a collection of system data (e.g. layered virtual file system base layer), user data (e.g. layered virtual file system user layer), and virtualized applications (e.g. virtual app layer), metadata and policies (e.g. layered virtual file system layer scope). Because a virtual workspace can include software such as an operating system and one or more applications in addition to user data, a virtual workspace can be aligned with a namespace so that an operating system of the virtual workspace may be located at a “base layer”, one or more applications executing on the operating system may be located at an upper “virtual app” layer, and user data in a virtual workspace may be found at any layer at or above the user layer.
