  • Patent number: 7103783
Abstract: A System for providing data security in a first device driver operably installed in a computer operating system having a layered plurality of device drivers (81, 82, 83, 84) for accessing data in a data storage device. The first device driver detects an I/O request, and determines whether the first device driver is functionally uppermost in the layered plurality of device drivers. If the first device driver is functionally uppermost in the layered plurality of device drivers, the method performs the I/O request (80) in the first device driver. If the device driver is not functionally uppermost in the layered plurality of device drivers, the method denies the I/O request in the first device driver, and allows the I/O request to be performed by the next lowest-level driver in the layered plurality of device drivers.

  • Publication number: 20060182263
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for automatically translating the dialed string entered by a calling party to identify a called party into another dialed string. The string translation may be based, for example, on characteristics of the telephone number or telephone terminal of the calling party or characteristics of the call itself. Translation rules translate the dialed string entered by the calling party to another dialed string. Each translation rule contains one or more conditions and a corresponding action item that should be performed to translate the dialed string when the rule is satisfied. The improved abbreviated dialing feature allows a shorter sequence of digits dialed from any telephone connected to a compliant switch to be replaced by a longer dialed string.

  • Publication number: 20060173202
Abstract: A process for preparing cyclic organohydrogensiloxanes comprises: (A) contacting a silane of the formula RHSiCl2, where R is selected from alkyl radicals having 1 to 12 carbon atoms and aryl radicals, with water to form a hydrolyzate comprising cyclic organohydrogensiloxanes and linear organohydrogensiloxanes, and (B) contacting the hydrolyzate with an acidic rearrangement catalyst in the presence of an inert liquid diluent to increase the ratio of the cyclic organohydrogensiloxanes to linear organohydrogensiloxanes in the hydrolyzate. The acidic rearrangement catalyst is an organic compound containing a strong acid group, for example a sulphonic acid, which is dissolved in the inert diluent present.

  • Publication number: 20060146799
Abstract: In one configuration, the present invention is directed to an enterprise network that includes geographically dislocated first and second network regions 202 and 206 communicating with one another through first and second networks 252 and 248 and respectively comprising first and second gateways 220 and 224 and first and second groupings of trunks. A common electronic address is associated with the second grouping of trunks. A media server 200 is positioned in the first network region 202 that includes an inter-gateway routing agent 260. The first network region transmits, as part of the establishment of a real-time or near real-time communication between first and second subscribers respectively in the first and second network regions, the common address to the second gateway 224. After the outgoing communication is answered by the second gateway 224, the first network region transmits in band to the second gateway 224 a user identifier associated with the second subscriber and/or a phantom user.

  • Publication number: 20060141145
Abstract: A three-dimensional printer uses inkjet-type printheads to rapidly prototype, or print, a three-dimensional model. A powder feeder includes a conveyor system and a metering system to deliver powder to a build area in measured quantities. The powder feeder also includes a vacuum system for loading powder into a feed reservoir or chamber. The vacuum system can also be used to cleanup excess powder. Other powder control features include powder gutters and magnetic powder plows. During printing, a cleaning system operates to remove powder from the printheads. In the event of a printhead or jet failure, the failure can be detected and corrective measures taken automatically. After printing, the model can be depowdered and infiltrated in an enclosure.

  • Publication number: 20060129627
Abstract: A multi-user file storage service and system enable each user of a pre-subscribed user group to operate an arbitrary client node at an arbitrary geographic location, to communicate with a remote file server node via a wide area network and to access the files of the file group via the respective client node in communication with the remote file server node via the wide area network. More than one user of the pre-subscribed user group is permitted to access the file group at the remote file server node simultaneously. Illustratively, the integrity of the files at the remote file server node are maintained by controlling each access to each file at the remote file server node so that each access to files at the remote file server is performed, if at all, on a respective portion of each file as most recently updated at the remote file server node.

  • Publication number: 20060100898
Abstract: A method for creating and storing actor profiles in a computer database which may then be searched by producers seeking to cast background or extra roles for projects. The actor profiles are detailed, including all desired physical appearance data, typically including a headshot or bodyshot, which may be used by the producer in selecting background actors. Upon selection the actor is then automatically scheduled or a schedule request is sent and confirmed for a role. The producer may then quickly and easily cast background and other roles, based upon very specific criteria quickly and easily.
