  • Publication number: 20060288220
Abstract: A web application firewall (WAFs) used to secure websites from many known and unknown vulnerabilities is described. In one embodiment, the WAF is installed between a server that is serving web content and a network over which clients access the website hosted on the server. The WAF is configured to provide security from external attacks by preventing the website from receiving data that it did not send, and that the data received was not altered by a client. The WAF encodes outbound HTTP response data such that when a client or interloper follows one of the links or other constructs in the response data, the WAF can determine the validity of the next client request. In one embodiment, each universal resource locator link is encrypted and checked for validity when it is returned to the server via the WAF.

  • Publication number: 20060195588
Abstract: An improved method and apparatus for client-side web application analysis is provided. Client-side web application analysis involves determining and testing, using client-side application interfaces and the like, data input points and analyzing client requests and server responses. In one embodiment, a security vulnerability analyzer is employed to analyze web page content for client-side application files, such as Flash files and Java applets, extract web addresses and data parameters embedded in the client-side application file, and modify the data parameters according to user-defined test criteria. The modified data parameters are transmitted as part of a request to a respective web server used to service the client-side application files. The security vulnerability analyzer analyzes the response from the server to ascertain if there are any security vulnerabilities associated with the interface between the client-side application file and the web server.

  • Publication number: 20060173508
Abstract: A method for treating eating disorders comprising the steps of generating a neuro-electrical satiety signal that substantially corresponds to a neuro-electrical signal that is generated in a body and produces a satiety effect in the body, sensing food intake in a subject over at least a first period of time, and transmitting the neuro-electrical satiety signal to the subject if the food intake of the subject exceeds a predetermined threshold level during the first period of time.

  • Publication number: 20060156402
Abstract: An approach for tracking denial-of-service (DoS) flood attacks using an overlay IP (Internet Protocol) network is disclosed. One or more tracking routers form an overlay tracking network over the network of an Internet Service Provider (ISP). The ISP network includes numerous transit routers and edge routers. The tracking routers communicate directly with all the edge routers using IP tunnels. The edge routers within the ISP network perform security diagnostic functions, in part, to identify a DoS flood attack that has been launched by one or more attackers. To track down an attacker, an egress edge router identifies the DoS flood attack datagrams, rerouting these datagrams to the overlay tracking network. The tracking routers perform hop-by-hop input debugging to identify the ingress edge router associated with the source of the DoS flood attack.

  • Patent number: 7027534
Abstract: Techniques are provided for fine-tuning estimates of a delay value for a sampled signal. One aspect of the invention is to perform, for the sampled signal, coarse-grained calculations of the In Phase and Quadrature (I and Q) correlation integrals at a limited number of points, wherein the calculations are performed over a range of hypothesized delay values. A range of delay values of interest are then determined from the coarse-grained calculations of the I and Q correlation integrals. A subset of I and Q values based on the coarse granularity calculations of the I and Q correlation functions is used to perform a time-domain interpolation to obtain fine-grained values of the I and Q integrals in the range of the delay values of interest. Magnitude calculations are performed based on the fine-grained values of the I and Q integrals. Fine-tuned estimates of delay value are based on the magnitude calculations. Alternatively, fine-tuned estimates of delay value are based on the template-matching approach.

  • Publication number: 20060048214
Abstract: A web application security scanner (WASS) includes a login manager configured to perform an automated login to a web site. The automated login may be performed when the login manager detects that a login session has ended. The login manager is configured to determine credentials for the web site to allow the WASS to access the web site. The WASS may then use the credentials to continue scanning the web site. Thus, previously unscannable web pages may be accessed in the web site because of the automated login process.

  • Publication number: 20050072494
Abstract: The present invention is a system and method for the automatic control of a debarking system for use in a chip mill, paper mill, or the like. The present invention comprises one or more programmable logic controllers (PLCs) that receive input from ultrasonic sensors that measure the quantity of wood present at various locations within the system. Based on this data, the PLCs reference look-up tables that contain information on start, stop, speed up, and slow down times for various system components based on such criteria as wood variety and season. The control system optimizes the fiber yield from the debarking system while also reducing mechanical wear on components of the system by reducing the time at which components are run at high speed.

  • Publication number: 20050002772
Abstract: A mail container and cart handling system includes a container inspection system, a container handling or loading/unloading system and/or a cart management or handling system. The container inspection system may destack trays and determine whether the trays are damaged and may discharge acceptable containers for use. The container loading/unloading system may receive trays of articles and may move the trays onto shelves of a cart, or may receive carts of trays and may remove trays from the shelves of the carts. The cart handling system may arrange carts at a loading or unloading area and may buffer the carts at the area to provide the carts in an arranged manner for loading carts into a trailer or the like or for receiving and moving carts into a facility.

  • Publication number: 20040004941
Abstract: An administration system is defined that provides an interface between a subscriber and resources on a provider network. The subscriber, via the administration system, has access to and control over certain of the resources on the provider network. The subscriber may have access to and control over only those resources on the provider network related to the services provided to his network. Also, the subscriber may not be capable of altering resources on the provider network in a way that affects the services provided to another subscriber. Because the administration system allows a user to control resources on the provider network that relate to services provided to his network, the amount of support required by the provider to administer those resources is reduced.

  • Patent number: 6535163
Abstract: To determine the location of a signal receiver, sampled data received from a receiver is divided into data segments of increasing length. Current ranges for a delay value and for a modulation frequency value are calculated relative to each satellite signal source that is overhead the signal receiver. Using the data segments of increasing length, the current ranges, estimates for the delay value and for the modulation frequency value are then iteratively calculated and updated. For each signal source, I and Q correlation integrals and their magnitude values are calculated using the modulation frequency value estimate and each of a range of delay values centered around the delay value estimate. The resulting magnitude-curve is interpolated using the calculated magnitude values. The location of the receiver is calculated using the shape of the magnitude-curve to represent the I and Q correlation integrals for each signal source.
