  • Publication number: 20120150218
Abstract: An implantable device for occluding a septal defect has interleaved frame sections that allow flexibility to conform to a variety of defect geometries and provide reliable occlusion during endothelialization. Left and right frames connect to opposite ends of a floating connection post. The device is resiliently deformable and is biased into a natural state wherein, in situ in a variety of defect geometries, the device applies a sandwiching force to the tissue surrounding the defect that is relatively uniform across its diameter, improving stability and promoting occlusion.

  • Publication number: 20110266556
Abstract: A method for controlled growth of silicon carbide and structures produced by the method are disclosed. A crystal of silicon carbide (SiC) can be grown by placing a sacrificial substrate in a growth zone with a source material. The source material may include a low-solubility impurity. SiC is then grown on the sacrificial substrate to condition the source material. The sacrificial substrate is then replaced with the final substrate, and SiC is grown on the final substrate. A single crystal of silicon carbide is produced, wherein the crystal of silicon carbide has substantially few micropipe defects. Such a crystal may also include a substantially uniform concentration of the low-solubility impurity, and may be used to make wafers and/or SiC die.

  • Publication number: 20100010897
Abstract: A system for presenting on-line advertising for goods and services to a user. After determining a geographic location of interest the method runs a query for retrieving candidate advertisements based on geographic location of interest, an advertiser type, and values in an influence map. The influence map is constructed by overlaying geographic location data onto an XY grid of cells and dividing cells into sub-cells that approximate various political or natural boundaries or other devised degrees of separation. Influences from geographically defined locations are propagated iteratively to neighboring cells, thus providing a continuous metric for influence across discontinuous geographic boundaries. Having now a measure of influence of a particular geographic feature and a user's suggestion of desired goods and/or services, advertisements are presented to the user in form of an ordered list, or in a web page frame, or on a geographic- or influence-oriented map.

  • Patent number: 7351286
Abstract: A method of producing a high quality bulk single crystal of silicon carbide in a seeded growth system is disclosed. The method includes positioning the seed crystal in a crucible while exerting minimal torsional forces on the seed crystal to thereby prevent torsional forces from warping or bowing the seed crystal in a manner that that would otherwise encourage sublimation from the rear of the seed crystal or undesired thermal differences across the seed crystal.

  • Patent number: 7323051
Abstract: A method is disclosed for producing a high quality bulk single crystal of silicon carbide in a seeded growth system. The method includes positioning a seed crystal on the seed holder with a low porosity backing material that provides a vapor barrier to silicon carbide sublimation from the seed and that minimizes the difference in thermal conductivity between the seed and the backing material to minimize or eliminate temperature differences across the seed and likewise minimize or eliminate vapor transport from the rear of the seed that would otherwise initiate and propagate defects in the growing crystal.

  • Patent number: 7319518
Abstract: The invention is a method of inspecting a semiconductor wafer surface for scratches. The method includes positioning a semiconductor wafer for illumination by a radiation source and adjacent a background material that will absorb radiation from the radiation source, directing radiation at a surface of the wafer from the radiation source that has a wavelength that will be absorbed by the fundamental absorption of the wafer, filtering or otherwise limiting the radiation to allow only radiation having wavelengths that are absorbed by the fundamental absorption of the wafer to pass, and detecting radiation scattered on the surface of the wafer and filtered, by position, to thereby identify the location of the scratches on the surface of the wafer, while the absorption of the background material prevents other radiation from the source from interfering with the detection of the scratch-scattered radiation.

  • Publication number: 20070075854
Abstract: A novel security system for use by a homeowner in protecting their premises, that is responsive to the presence of an intruder or others, the security system includes a housing for a motion detector, a recorder/playback system, a photo sensor, and a light display. In one embodiment, when the motion detector senses the presence of a person or an intruder it activates the photo sensor and the recorder/playback system, where the recorder/playback system will automatically play an outgoing message. If the event occurs during nighttime hours then the light display is simultaneously energized. The light display of the present invention includes a visual message, which may be symbolic or readable. The recorder/playback system may also allow an incoming message to be recorded by a person who is detected by the security system, the incoming message being kept for later playback by the homeowner.

  • Publication number: 20070000354
Abstract: The shingle removing machine includes a frame supporting a power source, which, in turn, drives a lateral axle with a wheel at each end thereof, with each wheel having an eccentric pin driving a blade drive arm. Separate wheels support the frame. Each blade drive arm extends forwardly and has a relatively wide shingle removal blade at its forward end. The blades extend substantially the width of the machine. The forward ends of the blade drive arms are interconnected and include rollers riding on sloped ramps on the forward end of the frame. Rotation of the blade arm drive wheels reciprocates the blade drive arms forwardly and rearwardly, with the blades also lifting and lowering during the cycle as the forward ends of the arms ride up and down the ramps. The blade drive arm assembly may be quickly and easily disassembled for maintenance and repair in the field.

  • Patent number: 6354734
Abstract: An apparatus for accurate temperature and pressure measurement in production processes is described. In designing the temperture pressure probe, novel features are described which include minimization of the thermal mass of the thermal probe, thermal isolation of the thermal probe from its surroundings, and generating turbulence in the vicinity of the thermal probe where it comes in contact with the fluid flow. Embodiments disclosed for the pressure sensor include a recessed position where fluid pressure transients are minimized, and a surface mounted pressure sensor that is useful where the pressure sensor of the first embodiment is likely to get clogged due to fluid composition.
