  • Patent number: 7475528
Abstract: A lawncare machine 100 has a powered rotary raking or scarifying reel 5 together with a powered vacuum collector 8 whereby material thrown up by the reel is immediately drawn into the collection chamber 8. During removal of the vegetation material, it is drawn into the chamber 8 due to a suction created by a fan 2. The material is normally held in the box by means of a perforated screen 10 situated between the box and fan entry. The chamber 8 may be emptied by moving the screen 10 so that the material is discharged through the fan 2. Alternatively the chamber 8 may be emptied by means of flap valves 19, 21, 23 which cause a reversal of the airflow through the chamber so that the collected material never passes through the fan.

  • Publication number: 20080057282
Abstract: A portable extruding apparatus that is capable of densifying biomass to greater densities and higher caloric values than has been possible heretofore. This capability is possible through the use of a vented barrel on the end of the extruder that allows for the escape of any gasses that are built-up during the compression and densification process without loss of any of the densifying material through the vents of the barrel during the processing.

  • Publication number: 20060242159
Abstract: Methods and Systems for viewing, manipulating, transmitting and comparing digital image patient imaging studies. The methods and systems enable a user to take, receive, store and transmit digital imaging studies. The system allows the digital imaging studies to be stored locally and backed up at a remote server. The user is able to provide commands to provide for additional services or features to be performed on the imaging studies at the remote server and/or the local server. Users at local servers are able to grant access to selected images to third parties for collaboration. The user is able to compare a digital patient image with a digital image of an appropriate implant enabling the user to properly size, fit and locate the implant with respect to the digital image. Additionally, the system allows the user to compare digital images over time to determine implant movement with respect to its insertion, as well as changes within the bones.

  • Publication number: 20060211357
Abstract: A chimney cap that permits compact storage and quick installation is described. The chimney cap is at least partially hinged, which permits the cage to be quickly set up from a folded condition. This is accomplished by hingeably coupling the sides of the cage to the bottom of the cage. The sides are coupled together by inserting a pin into concentric knuckles formed when corresponding edges are joined together. The folded product may be stored for transport or sale in a substantially flat box.

  • Publication number: 20060127183
Abstract: The invention is a system for managing a plurality of areas of interest of a golf course. The system comprises a plurality of electromechanical subsystems and a programmable master control module. Each subsystem provides to a specific area at least one of air under pressure and a partial vacuum. In each area of interest, a local control module is responsive to a directive and to a datum. The local control module is configured to operate the subsystem and is in communication with the programmable master control module. The programmable master control module receives from at least two of the plurality of local control modules information representing a status of the respective specific area to which the local control module is dedicated, and in response to the information and to a command, the programmable master control module issues a directive to the local control module to operate the electromechanical subsystem.

  • Publication number: 20050246997
Abstract: Single-piece clips for securing objects to surfaces by insertion through a gap or channel in the surface such as, for example, outdoor decking comprised of spaced-apart planks. The clips include a head, legs and feet properly dimensioned to prevent the clip from being pulled out once positioned. The head provides an aperture to which object fasteners/connectors can be attached, while the legs and feet provide three-dimensional stabilization preventing an object so connected from being displaced.

  • Patent number: 6918827
Abstract: A chimney cap and a method for making the same are described. The chimney cap is more consistently and uniformly manufactured, which permits nesting. This is accomplished by forming the cap from single piece of expanded metal to create a substantially square or rectangular cage where each side of the cage has an integral flange that is bent substantially perpendicular to its respective side. The substantially square or rectangular cage is stretched to form a shaped trapezoidal cage, with a top portion of each side of the cage having a longer span that a bottom of portion of each side.

  • Patent number: 6648245
Abstract: The operating mechanism is shown consisting of a rotary actuating member or turbine wheel driven by water flow through the head, the wheel having a cam co-action with a plate fixed in the shower head. The resulting axial oscillation of the wheel is imparted to a closure or restricting stopper or plug relative to an outlet opening in an outlet plate of the head, the plug being carried by a shaft from the wheel. Variable or pulsating water emission is thus effected from the opening. A rear perforated feed plate directs water flow to the wheel which is shown resiliently loaded to maintain the cam co-action by a compression spring acting between the plate and wheel as in FIGS. 1 and 2. Positive two way cam operation of the wheel is shown in FIG. 3 by and between the feed plate and plate. The plug is screw adjustable on the shaft for variation of water emission and has a taper cooperation with the outlet opening.

  • Patent number: 6603877
Abstract: A novel method all of and apparatus for categorizing different material regions of an object-to-be inspected, by optical scanning of the object to produce a pixel image thereof, discriminating different pixel regions of the image corresponding to possibly different materials on the basis of color, and texture brightness measurements of the pixel regions and assigning preliminary likelihoods to such discrimination through with ambiguities; and comparing the measurements of the pixel regions with their local neighborhood surroundings in the image to assist in resolving said ambiguities and determining the material categorizations of the pixel regions with a high likelihood.

  • Patent number: 6548728
Abstract: A wound dressing garment includes an outer structure layer formed of a pliable material and an interior lining formed of a self-adhesive gel material which serves as a dressing for directly contacting wounds such as burns on a patient. The structure layer provides the overall shape of the garment as well as a framework for supporting the gel layer. The structure layer has at least two edge portions that are securable (i.e., either permanently secured or detachably securable) to each other to provide a partial enclosure suitable for enveloping a portion of the body. The structure layer can include one or more layers of material and can be made of one or more of a variety of materials, such as fabric or elastomeric materials. The self-adhesive, sheet-like gel layer serves as an interior lining of the garment, such that gel layer presents an interior surface for directly contacting the skin of the patient.

  • Patent number: RE39287
Abstract: A temperature controlled cabinet system and method enables medical items associated with particular temperature ranges to be stored and maintained within the associated temperature ranges in cabinets disposed within ambulances and other medical vehicles. The system includes a temperature sensor for measuring the cabinet interior temperature, a controller assembly for controlling system operation and two head pumps disposed in the cabinet walls to heat or cool the cabinet interior. Alternatively, a single head pump may be utilized to heat or cool the cabinet interior. The controller assembly includes a control console for displaying the actual cabinet temperature and entering a desired temperature range into the system. The heat pumps include a pair of heat sinks disposed about a thermoelectric device (e.g., a Peltier chip) that heats one heat sink, while cooling the other heat sink based on voltage polarity or current flow direction applied to the device.
