  • Patent number: 5354442
Abstract: The present invention is a method for enhancing the separation of polynucleotides or polypeptides of various chain lengths or a mixture of polynucleotides and polypeptides of various chain lengths using electrophoretic processes to sharpen sample component zones and produce maximum resolution of electrophoretically separated macromolecules by modifying the matrix of electrophoretic gel.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 21, 1992
Date of Patent: October 11, 1994
Assignee: The United States of America as represented by the Secretary of the Commerce
Inventors: Robert C. Allen, Dennis J. Reeder
  • Patent number: 5159049
Abstract: A method for preparing stabilized, rehydratable polyacrylamide gels, wherein the stabilizers employed include substituted monosaccharides where the hydroxyl group of the carbon 1 is substituted with a non-charged group comprising an .alpha.-methyl group or an oligosaccharide having from 2 to about 8 repeating units which can be the same or different. These rehydratable gels can be stored for extended periods of time at ambient temperatures, and can be rehydrated without loss of structural or functional integrity to be used for electrophoretic separation of proteins and nucleic acids.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 22, 1991
Date of Patent: October 27, 1992
    Inventor: Robert C. Allen
  • Patent number: 5108899
Abstract: The presence or amount of in vivo inflammation of a patient is determined by comparing the extent of opsonin receptor expression in vivo on phagocytes of a patient with the maximum opsonin receptor expression inducible on phagocytes of the patient in vitro after stimulation with a receptor expression priming agent.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 31, 1989
Date of Patent: April 28, 1992
    Assignee: EXOxEmis, Inc.
    Inventor: Robert C. Allen
  • Patent number: 4876307
Abstract: Plasticized compositions exhibiting enhanced thermal processability are produced by substantially saturating a linear alternating polymer of carbon monoxide and at least one ethylenically unsaturated hydrocarbon with water at the melting point of the plasticized composition.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 18, 1988
Date of Patent: October 24, 1989
    Assignee: Shell Oil Company
    Inventor: Robert C. Allen

    Filed: August 24, 1984
Date of Patent: May 24, 1988
    Assignee: Micro-Map, Inc.
Inventors: Robert C. Allen, Bertold J. Radola
  • Patent number: 4554341
Abstract: Heat curable epoxy-styrene compositions exhibiting improved processability, low viscosity, long pot life, and fire retardancy which when cured with a special acid anhydride/onium salt epoxy curing blend in combination with a free-radical catalyst, yield cured products exhibiting improved physical properties, such as increased heat deflection temperature, increased flexural strength and increased flexibility.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 27, 1985
Date of Patent: November 19, 1985
    Assignee: Shell Oil Company
