  • Patent number: 7019669
Abstract: A pedestrian trail signaling device for warning users of the trail or path when an emergency vehicle is approaching the intersection. Emergency vehicles 14 have an actuatable transceiver that transmits a signal to the trail posted signaling device causing warning lights to flash and generation of a response signal informing the emergency vehicle operator that the trail posted signaling device has received the emergency vehicle transmission. A user transmitter having an on/off switch that broadcasts a signal to the trail signaling device causing the signaling device blinking yellow LED displays to blink A passive detector is provided whereby an emergency vehicle strobe light can trigger both flashing warning signals when the passive detector(s) is triggered. A motion detector 44 located on the trail user 16 warning light whereby either or both systems will flash their respective predetermined warning signals when the motion detector(s) is triggered.

  • Patent number: 6955832
Abstract: The present invention provides novels inks and methods for making a colored polymeric substrates, preferably a contact lens. In the inventive method at least a portion of a surface of a lens is coated with a color coat comprising at least one colorant, and a binder polymer obtained by copolymerizing a first monomer being ethylenically unsaturated and having a latent crosslinkable pendent group; and a second monomer having an ethylenically unsaturated double bond copolymerizable with the first monomer. The lens is then subjected to conditions that cause the color coat to adhere to the lens.

  • Publication number: 20030119943
Abstract: The present invention provides a chemical ink comprises a solvent, a binder polymer, a colorant and optionally a crosslinker. The ink of the invention has one or more of the following characteristics: a viscosity lower than about 50 centipoises; a surface tension of from about 20 mN/m to about 60 mN/m; a particle size of less than about 5 &mgr;m; prolonged stability; an appropriate color level (visible by eye); uniform drop formation; jet stability; good adhesion to contact lenses; good transfer from a mold to a lens made in the mold; and stability of ink in inkjet nozzles. The ink of the invention is useful for inkjet printing of a high-quality color image on a contact lens or a mold so as to produce a colored contact lens.

  • Patent number: 6519610
Abstract: Distributed Reference Links (“DRLs”) for managing the referential integrity between objects in a distributed directory server system are described. In a preferred embodiment, DRLs specify a set of attributes, precedents, and algorithms that define how a resource can notify other resource managers of a change in the identity information of one of its objects. Using DRLs, before an external reference to an object is created, a “UsedBy” attribute identifying the partition that will include contain the external reference is added to any R/W replica of the object prior to the creation of the external reference object.
