Publication number: 20250270833Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, devices, apparatus, and methods, including computer programs encoded on storage media, for processing pool care information. A processing device receives an input indicating a condition associated with water of a swimming pool. The condition has an impact on balancing a water chemistry of the water. The processing device computes, based on the input, a current water chemistry of the water of the swimming pool and determines a target water chemistry for the water of the swimming pool. The target water chemistry is different from the current water chemistry. The processing device outputs a pool care recommendation for the balancing the water chemistry of the water from the current water chemistry to the target water chemistry. The pool care recommendation is based on how the condition impacts the balancing the water chemistry.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 26, 2024Publication date: August 28, 2025Inventors: Michael Hicks, Robert Day

Methods for target DNA detection using non-functionalized carbohydrate-capped metallic nanoparticles
Patent number: 11226335Abstract: The disclosure relates to a method for specific detection of a target analyte using probe DNA specific to the target analyte and non-functionalized, carbohydrate-capped metal nanoparticles such as non-functionalized, dextrin-capped gold nanoparticles. A sample mixture including a target DNA analyte and a probe DNA specific thereto is incubated to from a probe DNA-target DNA complex. The non-functionalized, carbohydrate-capped metal nanoparticles and an ionic species such as sodium chloride or other salt are added to the probe DNA-target DNA complex, and the mixture is incubated. Addition of the ionic species creates a detectable distinction, such as color of the resultant mixture, between stabilized metal nanoparticles when the probe DNA-target DNA complex is present and destabilized metal nanoparticles when the probe DNA-target DNA complex is absent. The method can be used for colorimetric detection of plant pathogens and associated diseases in agricultural production systems.Type: GrantFiled: March 16, 2018Date of Patent: January 18, 2022Assignee: BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITYInventors: Robert Day, Amy Baetsen-Young, Evangelyn C. Patent number: 10435817Abstract: The present invention generally relates to nanoscale wires, and to methods of producing nanoscale wires. In some aspects, the nanoscale wires are nanowires comprising a core which is continuous and a shell which may be continuous or discontinuous, and/or may have regions having different cross-sectional areas. In some embodiments, the shell regions are produced by passing the shell material (or a precursor thereof) over a core nanoscale wire under conditions in which Plateau-Raleigh crystal growth occurs, which can lead to non-homogenous deposition of the shell material on different regions of the core. The core and the shell each independently may comprise semiconductors, and/or non-semiconductor materials such as semiconductor oxides, metals, polymers, or the like. Other embodiments are generally directed to systems and methods of making or using such nanoscale wires, devices containing such nanoscale wires, or the like.Type: GrantFiled: May 6, 2015Date of Patent: October 8, 2019Assignee: President and Fellows of Harvard CollegeInventors: Charles M. Patent number: 10244004Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide methods for providing a non-registering endpoint with non-registration services (such as the ability to make a call) in an IMS network without requiring the non-registering endpoint to register. A request for a non-registration service is received and processed by an entity in the IMS network that is configured to handle such requests. The entity requires information about the non-registering endpoint itself before it can process the request. Since the non-registering endpoint is part of the network, a Home Subscriber Server (HSS) knows some information about the non-registering endpoint, but can only provide this information to the entity if the non-registering endpoint is registered or being registered by the entity. Consequently, in embodiments, the entity makes it look like the non-registering endpoint is registering, in order for the entity to obtain the information from the HSS.Type: GrantFiled: September 23, 2016Date of Patent: March 26, 2019Assignee: Metaswitch Networks LtdInventors: Alex Hockey, Matthew Williams, Robert Day

Patent number: 10093207Abstract: Embodiments of radiant barriers for vehicles are disclosed. According to one embodiment, a vehicle includes an interior cabin at least partially enclosed by a roof panel, a floor panel, and an engine compartment firewall, and a radiant barrier positioned within the interior cabin. The radiant barrier includes a first thermally reflective surface and a second thermally reflective surface opposite the first thermally reflective surface and separated from the first thermally reflective surface by a thickness t. Patent number: 10049871Abstract: The present invention generally relates to nanoscale wires, including anisotropic deposition in nanoscale wires. In one set of embodiments, material may be deposited on certain portions of a nanoscale wire, e.g., anisotropically. For example, material may be deposited on a first facet of a crystalline nanoscale wire but not on a second facet. In some cases, additional materials may be deposited thereon, and/or the portions of the nanoscale wire may be removed, e.g., to produce vacant regions within the nanoscale wire, which may contain gas or other species. Other embodiments of the invention may be directed to articles made thereby, devices containing such nanoscale wires, kits involving such nanoscale wires, or the like.Type: GrantFiled: February 4, 2014Date of Patent: August 14, 2018Assignees: President and Fellows of Harvard College, Korea UniversityInventors: Charles M. Publication number: 20170352542Abstract: The present invention generally relates to nanoscale wires and, in particular, to nanoscale wires with heterojunctions, such as tip-localized homo- or heterojunctions. In one aspect, the nanoscale wire may include a core, an inner shell surrounding the core, and an outer shell surrounding the inner shell. The outer shell may also contact the core, e.g., at an end portion of the nanoscale wire. In some cases, such nanoscale wires may be used as electrical devices. For example a p-n junction may be created where the inner shell is electrically insulating, and the core and the outer shell are p-doped and n-doped. Other aspects of the present invention generally relate to methods of making or using such nanoscale wires, devices, or kits including such nanoscale wires, or the like.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 29, 2015Publication date: December 7, 2017Inventors: Charles M.
