Patent number: 12286839Abstract: A cutting element assembly includes a cutter support including a cutter bore. A cutting element is in the cutter bore and a resilient element is integral with the cutter support. The resilient element is longitudinally compressible and has a displacement of greater than 0.1 mm and optionally less than 2 mm. Another cutting assembly includes a cutter support coupled to multiple cutting elements. A resilient element of the cutter support is compressible based on a force applied to the cutter support through one or more of the cutting elements. The resilient element can include a slit in the cutter support. A slit may, for instance, extend perpendicular or transverse to an axis of the cutting elements and allow the cutter support to flex and close off or reduce a size of the slit when forces act on one or more of the cutting elements.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 2023Date of Patent: April 29, 2025Assignee: Schlumberger Technology CorporationInventors: David Robert Evan Snoswell, Ashley Bernard Johnson, Mauro Caresta, John Mervyn Cook

Patent number: 12260625Abstract: Techniques for determining ground surface voxels based on multiresolution planes are discussed herein. Such multiresolution planes may be generated, validated, and used to connect voxels associated with the ground. In some examples, a vehicle may use capture or otherwise receive lidar data while traversing within a driving environment. The vehicle may associate the lidar data with a voxel space. Voxels can be associated with a cell of a multiresolution grid and the vehicle may determine multiresolution planes associated with the multiresolution space. For example, the vehicle may determine a first plane associated with a first resolution level, in addition to determining a plurality of planes associated with a second resolution level. The vehicle may determine the validity of the plane(s) at the various resolution levels. Based on the validity of the planes, the vehicle may connect the valid planes that are associated with the ground surface.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 2022Date of Patent: March 25, 2025Assignee: Zoox, Inc.Inventors: Robert Evan Mahieu, Zeng Wang

Publication number: 20250093165Abstract: A technique automatically identifies and resolves prohibited maneuvers in candidate routes generated by a routing system. Examples of prohibited maneuvers include traveling over a non-navigable path, traveling in an incorrect direction over a roadway, and an improper turn. The technique determines whether the candidate routes contain prohibited maneuvers by comparing the candidate routes with plural types of route-related validation data in plural respective validation processes. For example, a first validation process compares the candidate routes with a collection of GPS traces. A second validation process compares the candidate routes with map reference data. The technique further includes provisions for correcting the causes of identified prohibited maneuvers. Overall, the technique reduces the amount of manual effort involved in verifying the accuracy of routes produced by the routing system, and improves the accuracy, reliability, and safety of the routing system.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 18, 2023Publication date: March 20, 2025Applicant: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Antonios KARATZOGLOU, Tijana BEKIC, Vashutosh AGRAWAL, Mohit KHANNA, Varun KAKKAR, Michael Robert EVANS, Jacob Nicholas WHITBECK, Dragomir Dimitrov YANKOV, Nikola PERIN, Nikola TODIC, Goran PREDOVIC, Aleksandar SAMARDZIJA
