  • Publication number: 20030039718
Abstract: An injection molding apparatus for injecting resin into a mold comprises an injection cylinder (9, 109, 209, 309) in fluid communication with the mold (5, 105, 205, 305), wherein movement of a piston (11, 111, 211, 311) relative to the cylinder injects a selected quantity of resin into the mold. A plasticizing unit (1, 101, 201, 301) includes a flighted screw (3, 103, 203, 303) rotating in a heated containment barrel for plasticizing resin. The plasticizing unit is in fluid communication with the injection cylinder for supplying the injection cylinder with plasticized resin. A valving means is provided for selectively placing the injection cylinder in fluid communication with the mold and placing the plasticizing unit in fluid communication with the injection cylinder, wherein the valving means is actuated by relative movement between the mold and one of the injection cylinder and the plasticizing unit.

  • Publication number: 20020099844
Abstract: Available bandwidth utilization during transfer of large files over a TCP/IP network is improved by load balancing data streams at the initiation of a large data transfer and dynamically controlling the number of data streams utilized as conditions within the infrastructure environment change. Software code running in both the client and the server optimizes the number of data streams utilized for each data transfer. A determination is quickly made of the optimum number of data streams for a particular data file transfer in the early stage of transmission. During the first few seconds of the transfer, an initial number of data streams, which is one unless otherwise specified or determined, is used to transmit one or more file segments, each on a different data stream, immediately followed by a second initial number of data streams, which is at least two greater than the initial number of data streams, is used to transmit another portion of the large data file.

  • Patent number: 6014742
Abstract: A trace branch prediction unit includes a trace branch target buffer connected to a trace cache. The trace cache stores traces of micro-ops, with the micro-ops being stored non-sequentially. The trace branch target buffer generally reads a buffer entry corresponding to a particular trace line one clock cycle before the trace line is read to a processor. Using the entry, the trace branch target buffer predicts whether the trace cache should follow the existing trace or leave the trace. If the trace branch target buffer predicts that the trace cache should leave a trace, the trace branch target buffer provides a target address for a new trace. The trace branch target buffer also predicts when a trace is ending and provides a target address for the next trace.

Abstract: A label applicator for applying a label to an article. The label includes a first side having printed matter visible thereon and a second side having a pressure sensitive adhesive thereon. The label applicator includes plasma coated tray that defines a label support structure for supporting the label with the second side of the label resting on the label support structure. A label transfer pad structure is provided with an array of openings thereon that have a vacuum source communicating therewith for gripping the first side of the label, picking up the label from the plasma coated tray, and for pressing the label onto the article. The plasma coated tray gives a non-stick surface that will not readily retain the adhesive side of the label. The label transfer pad has a suction cup portion for insuring complete separation of the label and any release liner.

  • Patent number: 5818960
Abstract: The output response of an image processing system having a color printer and a color printer characterization is linearized by printing a target image having target patches of differing color densities. After measuring printed patches, a calibration transform is generated that incorporates the relationship between requested and measured color densities. The calibration transform is then composed with the characterization, calibrating the printer characterization.

  • Patent number: 5757908
Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided in a data processing system for securing access to particular files which are stored in a computer-accessible memory media. A file management program is provided as an operating system component of the data processing system. A plurality of files are stored in a computer-accessible memory media, including at least one encrypted file and at least one unencrypted file. For each encrypted file, a preselected portion of the file is recorded in memory, a decryption block is generated which includes information which can be utilized to decrypt the file, and the decryption block is incorporated in the file in lieu of the preselected portion which has been recorded in memory. Then, a file management program is utilized to monitor data processing system calls for files stored in the computer-accessible memory media. The file management program determines whether the called file has an associated decryption block.

  • Patent number: 5747883
Abstract: The cooling for large track laying type vehicles is provided by a fan which circulates air through the powertrain compartment and a radiator. The fan speed is varied to reduce the power requirement when maximum air flow is not needed. The speed of the fan is modulated relative to the engine speed by a separate drive mechanism. The electrical generator speed can also be modulated simultaneously with the fan drive. To provide a compact arrangement, the fan input shaft and generator input shaft are coaxially disposed such that the fan structure surrounds the outer periphery of the generator.

  • Patent number: 5737416
Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided in a data processing system for securing access to particular files which are stored in a computer-accessible memory media. A file management program is provided as an operating system component of the data processing system. At least one encrypted file and at least one unencrypted file are stored in the computer-accessible memory media. An unencrypted security stub is associated with each of the encrypted files. The security stub is at least partially composed of executable code. The file management program is utilized to monitor data processing calls for a called file stored in the computer-accessible memory media. The file management program determines what the called file has an associated unencrypted security stub. The called file is processed in a particular manner dependent upon whether or not the called file has an associated unencrypted security stub.
