  • Publication number: 20160272525
Abstract: This disclosure relates to a process for treating a tailings stream comprising water, solids, and optionally polyacrylamide. The process involves (a) contacting the tailings stream with a silicate source for a pre-determined period of time to form a mixture; b) after the pre-determined period of time, contacting the mixture with an activator to initiate gel formation, wherein the gel entraps the solids within the gel; and c) allowing the gel to strengthen and solidify; wherein the gel formation is delayed compared with a non-delayed process.

  • Patent number: 9307683
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an apparatus for reducing and constraining EMI (electronic magnetic radiation) emissions without affecting the internals of data storage system components. A baffle is attached to the exterior of the housing of a data storage system component by baffle mounts. The baffle is operable between a closed position, where the baffle blocks EMI emitted by connectors on the data storage system component, and an open position, where the connectors are not blocked allowing for servicing and cable management. The baffle may comprise an EMI absorbing material and be tuned to meet specific EMI requirements. The baffle mounts offsets the baffle from the data storage system component and the baffle includes a number of holes to allow airflow. The adjustable EMI baffling apparatus does not interfere with other mounted components while the data storage system component is mounted in a cabinet.

  • Publication number: 20160059282
Abstract: This disclosure relates to a process for treating a tailings stream comprising water and solids. The process involves (a) contacting a gelling agent and an activator with the tailings stream, (b) entrapping the solids within a gel produced from the gelling agent, and (c) depositing the gel into a liquid. This disclosure also relates to a process for treating a tailings stream comprising water and solids beneath a liquid surface. The process involves (a) contacting a gelling agent and an activator with the tailings stream beneath the liquid surface, (b) entrapping the solids within a gel produced from the gelling agent.

  • Publication number: 20150299580
Abstract: A process for the extraction and recovery of bitumen from oil sands using deionized silicate solutions. Bitumen is recovered in a process comprising contacting a deionized silicate solution with an ore sand oil to produce a froth comprising bitumen and a tailings stream comprising water, sand and clay fines and optionally unrecovered bitumen. Preferably the tailings stream is dewatered and recovered water may be recycled to the extraction process.

  • Patent number: 9162925
Abstract: A process for treating a tailings stream comprises (a) contacting (1) a gelling agent and (2) an activator with said tailings stream to produce a gel; (b) entrapping solids including sand and clay, and other solid particles with the gel; and (c) allowing the gel to strengthen and solidify to produce a trafficable deposit; wherein the tailings stream comprises water and solids, which solids comprise sand, clay and other solids particles, and wherein 5% by volume to 100% by volume of the solids have a particle size less than 0.05 mm, based on the total volume of the solids. The process may further comprises spreading the gel produced in step (a) or the trafficable deposit produced in step (c) over a surface. The present invention is particularly useful to treat tailings streams produced in processes to extract bitumen from oil sands ores.

  • Publication number: 20150083318
Abstract: A method of making fabrics and coatings in a camouflage pattern with a printed camouflage pattern ink layer covered by a temperature activated color changing ink layer or layers printed in a camouflage pattern, which matches the pattern in the underlying printed camouflage fabric ink layer. The temperature activated color changing ink layer changes color state with a change of temperature to another color state or a clear state, which reveals the color state of the underlying printed camouflage fabric layer. The temperatures at which the temperature activated color changing ink changes color state occurs at a pre-determined temperature so that the camouflage pattern reveal the color states and the characteristics of the foliage of the season to which the temperature corresponds.

  • Publication number: 20150030030
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention are directed to enforcing zoning at a network adapter of an end point device. Thus, a network adapter can monitor the communications that are sent and/or received by the adapter and discard communications that are prohibited based on the zoning rules applicable to the adapter. In some embodiments, zoning configuration information can be defined and stored at a central entity and sent to the various network adapters. Alternatively, or in addition, each network adapter can also check outgoing communications to ensure that they include a proper source address. More specifically, outgoing communications may be checked to ensure that their source address is the address (or one of the addresses) that are associated with the network adapter. This can be used to detect and/or prevent malfunctions and/or intentional tampering or hacking.
