  • Publication number: 20100040747
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of reducing chill haze in a protein containing liquid (especially beverages resulting from fermentation such as beer and wine) by contacting the liquid with silica microgels having an average microgel diameter of at least 18 nm, more preferably at least 45 nm, and most preferably at least 70 nm. It has now been discovered that microgels having an average microgel diameter of less than about 18 nm do not adequately reduce chill haze of a protein containing liquid. In particular, while microgels having an average microgel diameter of less than about 18 nm cause the coagulation of haze-forming components, these components remain suspended in liquid and continue to cause haze despite allowing the liquid to settle for long periods of time.

  • Publication number: 20100037448
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an apparatus for reducing and constraining EMI (electronic magnetic radiation) emissions without affecting the internals of data storage system components. A baffle is attached to the exterior of the housing of a data storage system component by baffle mounts. The baffle is operable between a closed position, where the baffle blocks EMI emitted by connectors on the data storage system component, and an open position, where the connectors are not blocked allowing for servicing and cable management. The baffle may comprise an EMI absorbing material and be tuned to meet specific EMI requirements. The baffle mounts offsets the baffle from the data storage system component and the baffle includes a number of holes to allow airflow. The adjustable EMI baffling apparatus does not interfere with other mounted components while the data storage system component is mounted in a cabinet.

  • Publication number: 20090164630
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention are directed to enforcing zoning at a network adapter of an end point device. Thus, a network adapter can monitor the communications that are sent and/or received by the adapter and discard communications that are prohibited based on the zoning rules applicable to the adapter. In some embodiments, zoning configuration information can be defined and stored at a central entity and sent to the various network adapters. Alternatively, or in addition, each network adapter can also check outgoing communications to ensure that they include a proper source address. More specifically, outgoing communications may be checked to ensure that their source address is the address (or one of the addresses) that are associated with the network adapter. This can be used to detect and/or prevent malfunctions and/or intentional tampering or hacking.

  • Patent number: 7492608
Abstract: A system including an EMI shield. In an embodiment, the system includes a chassis with at least one bay for receiving a replaceable unit and a lip. The replaceable unit includes a housing and a faceplate. Further, a gasket is operationally coupled to the replaceable unit housing and the replaceable unit faceplate for reducing electromagnetic radiation emissions from the replaceable unit and chassis interface. The gasket may include four sides which are configured to provide a varying force-compression curve along the length of the gasket. Upon installation of the replaceable unit, the lip defined within the chassis compresses the gasket to provide a constant force per unit length and form an electromagnetic interference shield with uninterrupted electrical conductivity.

  • Patent number: 7440108
Abstract: The present invention relates to an imaging apparatus and comprises input and output polarisers, a first polarising beam splitter and at least one additional polarising beam splitter, a light sensitive detector and focussing means arranged on an axis. The input polariser resolves incident light into a single linear polarisation state. The first polarising beam splitter receives light from the input polarises, and resolves it into equal magnitude orthogonally polarised rays which are mutually spaced and have a path difference therebetween. The or each additional polarising beam splitter is arranged to receive light from the first polarising beam splitter. The transmission axis of the output polariser is parallel to or perpendicular to the transmission axis of the input polarises to resolve the orthogonally polarised light rays having past through the or each additional polarising beam splitter into the same or perpendicular polarisation state as light resolved by the, first polariser.

Abstract: Methods for enhancing cognitive ability in infants are shown. The methods comprise feeding infants baby-food compositions containing docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) in an amount of at least about 0.5 mg per gram of the composition. Infants fed a composition containing DHA from an age of about 6 months to about one year exhibit improved problem solving ability compared to infants fed a composition containing DHA in an amount less than about 5 mg per 100 grams total composition over the same period. The source of the DHA can be DHA-enriched coagulated egg yolk solids present in an amount of from about 5% to about 25% (grams/100 grams). Also shown are methods of making the DHA-enriched baby-food compositions, and methods of providing the compositions to a consumer.

  • Patent number: 7390975
Abstract: An electromagnetic interference (EMI) gasket for an electronic module comprises a valley feature formed on one side of an EMI gasket and a crown feature formed on the other side of the EMI gasket in order to complement the valley. One or more EMI gaskets are used to construct a shield across the opening of a module cage or rack. Each gasket forms a link in a series of modules, in order to complete a seal across the opening in the cage. A perpendicular pressure forces the module gaskets to center and align evenly as the crown and valley of the opposite features nest together. The modules can be then pressed together and the overlap of the crown and valley acts to center the alignment and create a pressure for satisfactory EMI grounding and the reduction of EMI leakage.

  • Publication number: 20070188564
Abstract: Inkjet printhead with an array of ejection chambers spaced in an array direction, each communicating with an ink orifice, inlet and outlet plenum chambers communicating with the ejection chambers, and inlet and outlet manifolds extending in the array direction and communicating with the plenum chambers through a porous sheet. While there are substantial net ink flows in the array direction in the inlet and the outlet manifolds, there is substantially no net flow in the array direction in the inlet or outlet plenum chamber. Ink pressure is therefore constant over the array of ejection chambers.
