  • Publication number: 20080152586
Abstract: This invention provides polyvalent or polyspecific protein complexes, comprising three or more polypeptides which associate to form three or more functional target-binding regions (TBRs), and in which each individual polypeptide comprises two or more immunoglobulin-like domains which are covalently joined together, such that two Ig-like domains in a single polypeptide do not associate with each other to form a TBR. By using a linker peptide of fewer than three amino acid residues the immunoglobulin-like domains of the individual polypeptides are prevented from associating, so that complex formation between polypeptides is favoured. Preferably the polyvalent or polyspecific protein is a trimer or tetramer. The proteins of the invention have specificities which may be the same or different, and are suitable for use as therapeutic, diagnostic or imaging agents.

  • Patent number: 7384506
Abstract: Embossing regularly textured sheets with an appropriate regular, discrete embossing pattern to improve softness can result in a combined texture that creates an interference pattern that camouflages the original texture pattern and the embossing pattern. The resulting pattern is more appealing to the eye and is more random in appearance than the initial textured sheet or the embossing pattern individually. This result is particularly advantageous for paper towels.

Abstract: A technique is provided for wirelessly tracking valuable assets during transit via a tracking system. The tracking system includes an event sensor for generating a trigger signal upon sensing an event and a position sensing device for receiving positional information of an asset being tracked. The tracking system also includes a communication device for communicating a date, a time and received positional information to one or more monitoring stations upon being triggered by the trigger signal. The one or more monitoring stations process the information received from the tracking system to determine if the event is expected or an anomaly via an anomaly detection algorithm.

  • Publication number: 20070048774
Abstract: Provided is a method for the mutation, synthesis and selection of a protein of interest, by first incubating a replicable RNA molecule encoding the protein with ribonucleoside triphosphate precursors of RNA and an RNA-directed RNA polymerase, such that the RNA-directed RNA polymerase replicates the RNA molecule but introduces mutations thereby generating a population of mutant RNA molecules. The mutant RNA molecules are then incubated with a translation system under conditions which result in the synthesis of a population of mutant proteins. After translation, the mutant proteins are linked to their encoding RNA molecules, and one or more mutant proteins of interest are selected.

  • Publication number: 20060099611
Abstract: The present invention relates to the field of evolution of nucleic acids in vivo and provides methods and compositions for introducing diversity into gene products. The present invention allows generation of new sequences that have desirable properties by virtue of high frequency mutation events within a cell. The high frequency mutation of a polynucleotide sequence results in, the production of a large population of new sequence variants. Appropriate selection and/or screening permits identification and isolation of mutant forms of the polynucleotide sequence as well as products resulting from expression of the mutant sequences.

  • Patent number: 6883781
Abstract: The tool is adapted for extracting the sheared remnant of a sign post having holes and comprises a shaft having a top and bottom end. To secure the tool to the remnant a clamp is provided comprising a stationary member integral to the bottom end of the shaft and a moveable member pivotally connected to the stationary member. Fixed to the stationary member is a guide member having a plurality of outwardly projecting pins. The pins have a diameter and spaced relationship adapted to correspond to the diameter and spaced relationship of the holes in the sign post remnant. When the clamp is inserted into the sign post remnant the pins will enter and tightly engage the holes in the signpost remnant. Connected to the top end of the shaft is a sliding hammer for imparting extraction forces to the sheared sign post remnant.

  • Publication number: 20040113132
Abstract: A hand operated tool for removing the sheared remnants of square steel sign posts from post anchors. The tool has means for clamping onto the remnant and means for removing the remnant. Means for removing the remnant comprise a sliding hammer mechanism that is attached to a shaft that is in turn attached to the clamp so that operation of the hammer mechanism imparts extraction forces through the shaft to the clamp thereby forcing the remnant out of the post anchor.

  • Patent number: 6430536
Abstract: Methods and systems for generating reports with respect to medical imaging equipment of a health care organization are described. In accordance with one embodiment of the present invention, a processor based system is configured to prompt a user to collect various data related to a number of facilities. The data typically relates to the equipment, or inventory, as well as to the various types of procedures, and the number of procedures, performed at the facility. After collecting the necessary data, the system then determines, or calculates, various summaries, assessments, capacity utilization, needs assessment, needs comparison, equipment requirements comparison, and procedural efficiency. After making such determinations, the system builds and formats various reports and graphs for presenting the determinations to the user.

  • Patent number: 6382665
Abstract: The invention provides the combination of a seat frame and a cover, having a seam, covering the seat frame. An air bag unit, having an air bag, is disposed inside the cover and is supported by the frame. An intensifier sleeve, having a pair of sheets, sandwiches the air bag therebetween with the sheets being connected to the seam of the cover and supported by the seat frame. A fastener is included and has outboard and inboard portions with the portions being connected the free edges of the sheets. The portions each include a back panel and a series of J-shaped hooks. The seat assembly is characterized by an alignment device disposed on the portions to ensure that the J-shaped hooks are aligned when the J-shaped hooks are interleaved with one another such that the outboard portion is securely interconnected to the inboard portion. This ensures that the sheets are securely supported on the seat frame and that the sheets will remain supported on the seat frame during a deployment of the air bag.
