  • Patent number: 4964654
Abstract: An assembly comprising: a hollow cylindrical member or can including an opening into which a gas generator may be inserted, the gas generator of the type responsive to a control signal, for generating gas to inflate an air bag. The assembly including the air bag, for protecting, when activated, an occupant of a vehicle, comprising an inflatable bag or sack, disposed in a compacted or stored condition, during periods prior to deployment, proximate a side of the cylindrical member containing at least one aperture, the inflatable bag, including an open end disposed about the cylindrical member to receive the gas an including relatively opposing flaps extending from proximate the open end and adapted to envelop the cylindrical member, the flaps, proximate a side of the cylindrical member, away from the at least one apature, disposed in an overlapping, condition, one to the other. A band of tearable material is provided to secure the air bag in its stored or predeployment condition.

  • Patent number: 4925333
Abstract: A sectional shock-absorbing and motorist warning highway barrier is provided in the form of multi-component sections about four feet in length, and adapted to be joined together in end-to-end relation to form a continuous barrier, each section being made up of four vertically aligned horizontal components, providing a top component, and two mid-components of uniform thickness, and a flared bottom component, such components having offsets at opposed ends thereof for aligning successive sections with such offsets having transverse apertures for receiving bolts in securing together successive sections, abutting surfaces of the horizontal components having aligned offsets of semi-spherical contour to receive spherical plastic bumper members protrudingly and rotatably supported in the assembled section. The horizontal components are fashioned from concrete, suitably encased in plastic shells, and the spherical plastic bumper members may be either air filled, or filled with water or sand for added weight.

  • Patent number: 4756623
Abstract: A collapsible mixing drum is provided in which two similarly contoured, frustoconical members, one of which is open and the other closed at the small end, and both of which are provided with a plurality of circumferentially spaced and inwardly offset stiffening and mixing ribs, terminating in radial wall portions at the large ends of the frustoconical members, the radial wall portions having aligned apertures to receive axially oriented fasteners, are detachably joined together through clamping engagement with an annular ring member having on opposed radial surfaces thereof aligned grooves for sealably receiving circumferential edges of the large ends of the frustoconical members, and the outer surface of the ring member being contoured to provide a circumferential groove, gear teeth, or a combination thereof to facilitate rotational support and/or rotational driving of the assembled drum.

  • Patent number: 4750840
Abstract: A manually operated portable mixing device is provided in which a frame of knockdown construction provides means for rotatably supporting a mixing drum of centrally expanded cylindrical contour in a manner to dispose the drum axis at an angle of about 20 degrees with respect to a support surface, the drum having a large circular opening at one end and being closed at the opposed end, roller means at the rear of the frame engaging an annular groove on an axially protruding bearing member at the closed end of the drum, roller means at the front of the frame engaging outer surfaces of the drum adjacent the open end thereof, a three-sided frame extension of a size to be closely spaced from the periphery of the rotatably supported open drum end, the lower rear portion of the frame detachably supporting wheels in a manner to be slightly elevated with respect to a support surface, and the drum at the centrally expanded portion thereof, having four detachably mounted and radially extended hand-grip members at 90.

  • Patent number: 4634284
Abstract: A hand-operated mixing device is provided in which a mixing drum, having an open end, a closed end and divergently tapered circumferential walls extending from the ends to an enlarged diameter portion intermediate the ends, an annular groove at the outer periphery of the enlarged diameter portion, and the closed end having a detachably mounted crank member terminating in a bearing shaft coaxial with the drum axis, the drum being detachably mounted on a light-weight frame having at the forward portion thereof transversely spaced rollers for engagement with the annular groove, and at the rear portion thereof a bearing orifice detachably receiving the bearing shaft of the crank handle, the positioning of the rollers and bearing orifice being such as to orient the drum axis at an angle of about 10-20" to the horizontal to thereby elevate the open end of the drum, the light-weight frame being of knockdown construction having parts of such dimension as to permit packing when disassembled in a container adapted to c
