  • Patent number: 7581301
Abstract: A fastener assembly for attaching components of dissimilar materials includes a fastener having a base portion and a protruding portion, and a mechanism for tightening the assembly. The base portion is shaped to be complementary for mating with an attachment feature formed within the non-metal component such that the base portion is retained within the non-metal component. The protruding portion including a base end and a distal end with the distal end including a threaded portion. The fastener assembly allows attachment of components fabricated from dissimilar materials without forming through holes in one of the components. Additionally, the fastener assembly compensates for differences in thermal expansion rates between the non-metal component and the metal component while providing a tight attachment therebetween.

  • Publication number: 20080258221
Abstract: A semiconductor structure that includes at least one logic device region and at least one static random access memory (SRAM) device region wherein each device region includes a double gated field effect transistor (FET) wherein the back gate of each of the FET devices is doped to a specific level so as to improve the performance of the FET devices within the different device regions is provided. In particular, the back gate within the SRAM device region is more heavily doped than the back gate within the logic device region. In order to control short channel effects, the FET device within the logic device region includes a doped channel, while the FET device within the SRAM device region does not. A none uniform lateral doping profile with a low net doping beneath the source/drain regions and a high net doping underneath the channel would provide additional SCE control for the logic device.

  • Patent number: 7387924
Abstract: A structure and method of fabrication for MOSFET devices with a polycrystalline SiGe junction is disclosed. Ge is selectively grown on Si while Si is selectively grown on Ge. Alternating depositions of Ge and Si layers yield the SiGe junction. The deposited layers are doped, and subsequently the dopants outdiffused into the device body. A thin porous oxide layer between the polycrystalline Ge and Si layers enhances the isotropy of the SiGe junctions.

  • Publication number: 20080138197
Abstract: A transition duct for a gas turbine engine typically contains one or more non-turning fairings. These fairings disturb the air flow through the duct, leading to flow separation and aerodynamic inefficiency. The invention proposes non-axisymmetric perturbations in the duct end walls to minimise these undesirable aerodynamic effects. This permits the construction of shorter and lighter transition ducts, with more pronounced curvature.

  • Patent number: 7370846
Abstract: The invention comprises multiple configurations of downcomers in a parallel flow multiple downcomer tray for vapor-liquid contacting processes such as the separation of chemical compounds via fractional distillation or the removal of a component of a gas stream with a treating liquid. In one embodiment, side downcomers are incorporated into a parallel flow multiple downcomer tray. In another embodiment, the downcomers have an inclined side wall that directs liquid onto the deck below the downcomer. The inclined side wall also provides additional volume above the inferior downcomer inlet to reduce pinching at this inlet without the need for a stilling deck.
