  • Patent number: 9944835
Abstract: Non-silicone urea-based adhesives are disclosed which are prepared by the polymerization of reactive oligomers with the general formula X—B—X, where X is an ethylenically unsaturated group and B is a unit free of silicone and containing urea groups. The reactive oligomers can be prepared from polyamines through chain extension reactions using diaryl carbonates followed by capping reactions. Adhesive articles, including optical adhesive articles may be prepared using the disclosed non-silicone urea-based adhesives.

  • Publication number: 20130098543
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method of applying window film to a window without water. The method includes providing a laminate having an adhesive layer disposed between a window film and a release liner. A portion of the adhesive layer is exposed and contacted with a window pane, and this sequence of steps is repeated until the adhesive layer is completely exposed. The window film is smoothed to the edges of the window pane and trimmed such that a gap between the edges of the window film and the frame is from about 1/32 to about 1/4 inches. Trapped air from between the window film and the window pane by pushing the trapped air out from between the adhesive layer and the window pane using the flat edge of a tool. The adhesive layer may be self-wetting and/or removably repositionable. The window film may be a solar film, an anti-shattering film, a privacy film, a decorative film, a graphic, a radio frequency blocking film, or a combination thereof.

  • Patent number: 7854848
Abstract: Herein are disclosed apparatus and methods that can be used to receive a volume of potable water from a source and to treat the volume of water so as to improve the perceived or actual aesthetic quality of the water, and to thereafter contain the treated water such that it can be used or consumed. In general, the apparatus comprises a container capable of receiving a volume of water, and a capture element within the container that is capable of removing at least a portion of such substances in the water as may be perceived as impacting water quality. The capture element comprises sorbent media that is capable of removing at least some portion of such undesirable substances, and that may comprise, for example, activated carbon and the like.
