  • Publication number: 20230224706
Abstract: A Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) gateway serves a non-Third Generation Partnership Project (non-3GPP) user device over a 3GPP N1 link. The gateway receives a transaction request from the non-3GPP user device. The gateway translates the transaction request into a 3GPP request. The gateway transfers the 3GPP request to a 3GPP network and receives an authentication request from the 3GPP network. The gateway generates and transfers an authentication response based on the transaction request and the authentication request to the 3GPP network. In response to the authentication, the gateway establishes the 3GPP N1 link with the 3GPP network for the non-3GPP user device. The gateway exchanges user data with the non-3GPP user device. The gateway interworks the user data and N1 signaling. The gateway exchanges the N1 signaling with the 3GPP network. The 3GPP network interworks the N1 signaling and the user data and exchanges the user data.

  • Patent number: 11671879
Abstract: A wireless communication network hands-out a wireless User Equipment (UE) from a non-Third Partnership Project (non-3GPP) access node to a target communication network. An Access and Mobility Management Function (AMF) determines UE context for the wireless UE for a data communication session over the non-3GPP access node. The AMF detects when the wireless UE de-attaches from the non-3GPP access node to handover to the target communication network. In response, the AMF transfers the UE context for the wireless UE to a Network Exposure Function (NEF). The NEF receives the UE context for the UE from the AMF and transfer the UE context for the UE to the target communication network.

  • Patent number: 11602003
Abstract: A wireless communication network serves a User Equipment (UE) over multiple User Plane Function Groups (UPFGs). In the wireless communication network, a Session Management Function (SMF) receives UPFG performance metrics from the wireless communication network. The SMF identifies a Packet Data Flow Group (PDFG) for the UE. The SMF responsively selects one of the UPFGs for the PDFG based on the UPFG performance metrics. The selected UPFG comprises at least three User Plane Functions (UPFs) and the PDFG comprises at least two Packet Data Flows (PDFs). The SMF transfers network signaling to the selected UPFG to deliver the PDFG to the UE. • Patent number: 11558800
Abstract: A network controller monitors a wireless access node for a fault. The wireless access node experiences the fault and scans for wireless Integrated Access and Backhaul (IAB) service. The network controller detects the fault and directs a neighbor access node to deliver the wireless IAB service. The neighbor access node delivers the wireless IAB service in response to the network controller. The wireless access node detects the wireless IAB service from the neighbor access node and exchanges fault data with the network controller using the wireless IAB service delivered by the neighbor access node. The network controller exchanges the fault data with the wireless access node using the wireless IAB service delivered by the neighbor access node. An Access and Mobility Management Function (AMF) or a User Plane Function (UPF) may detect a lack of signaling or data from the wireless access node to detect the fault.
