  • Publication number: 20050121559
Abstract: A plastic pipe support assembly includes a pair of snap-on wall brackets or fittings with each bracket or fitting including a base portion and a snap-on, pipe receiving portion. The base portion includes holes for receiving nails or screws for mounting to studs in a building, for example; and the snap-on pipe receiving portion includes a pair of jaws for extending around a support pipe, with the opening between the jaws having a spacing which is less than the diameter of the support pipe so that the support pipe may be snapped into the jaws, and held firmly in place. One or more pipe-to-pipe fittings may be provided with each fitting having a pair of pipe receiving jaws, for mounting water pipes to the support pipe. The support pipe and the brackets or fittings may be all formed of the same type of plastic as the water pipe, such as polyvinyl chloride, or chlorinated polyvinyl chloride. Plastic solvent may be employed to bond the pipes and fittings together.

  • Publication number: 20050099821
Abstract: A system for visually aiding a vehicle driver's depth perception includes a headlamp assembly mounted on a forward portion of the vehicle, first and second beam projectors mounted in the headlamp assembly, the first beam projector being adapted to project a first beam in a plane and parallel to a lengthwise axis of the vehicle, and the second beam projector being adapted to project a second beam in the plane and in a direction intersecting the first beam. The beam projectors are separated in the headlamp assembly by a selected distance and the second beam projector is disposed such that the second beam intersects the first beam in the plane at a selected angle, whereby the beam intersection provides a unitary beam pattern on a surface transverse to the plane at a selected distance forward of the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20050074294
Abstract: Plastic liner sections define a drainage channel when placed end to end. Each end has a stiff, double walled flange at each side of the end adapted to butt up to a similar flange at the adjacent end of the next sections. The double walled construction of the flanges stiffens the ends significantly reducing the risk of deformation by the hydrostatic forces produced by wet concrete during installation. A groove is formed inwardly of the flanges on a female end of the liner section and receives a sealing ring, which is held in place by a lip formed on a male end.

  • Publication number: 20050039630
Abstract: A system and method for managing electrical power generated by an engine for use in connection with operating a hybrid energy off highway vehicle load control system. A load control circuit determines a current operating condition of the Off Highway Vehicle, and determines a corresponding target operating condition of the Off Highway Vehicle The load control system determines a difference between the current operating condition and a target operating condition to identify transients. The load control system delivers power from the power source to a energy storage for an initial period after a transient condition is identified and then delivers power from the power source to source to the traction motors to propel the Off Highway Vehicle. The load control system also retrieves to power from the energy storage to assist in propelling the Off Highway Vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20050040789
Abstract: A method for equalizing a storage parameter for a vehicle energy storage system having one or more energy storage banks associated therewith includes identifying a quiescent period of operation for the vehicle, and determining whether the value of a defined storage quantity for a first energy storage bank differs from the value of said defined storage quantity for a second energy storage bank by a threshold amount. During the quiescent period of operation, one of said first and second energy storage banks is discharged and the other of the first and second energy storage banks is charged. The one of the first and second energy storage banks corresponds to the bank having the value of the defined storage quantity exceeding the value of the defined storage quantity of the other of said first and second energy storage banks.

  • Publication number: 20040090418
Abstract: A joystick is constructed to include a handle that is capable of both pivotal movement and axial movement, the pivotal movement serving the conventional function of a joystick and the axial movement serving to engage and disengage the joystick to the electronic components that translate the joystick position to the position of a moving part in an electronically controlled apparatus. Thus, in its normal fully extended position, the joystick is activated and functioning whereas the activation can be suspended and the joystick repositioned by simply pushing on the joystick handle along the axis of the joystick. This activating and deactivating capability is achieved with no external buttons on the joystick shaft.

  • Patent number: 6691636
Abstract: A method of deploying cable in a body of water comprising an autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) capable of converting vertical motion into horizontal travel, and placing cable in the body of water with the AUV. The cable, usually a cable sensor array, is released from a cable storage section of the AUV as the AUV glides horizontally. Vertical motion can be provided by buoyancy change, by dropping the AUV into the water, or by release of the AUV from a weighted bunker at the bottom.

  • Patent number: 6616412
Abstract: A tapered polygon coupling for an impeller and shaft. The shaft has a tapered bore having a polygonal cross-section. The impeller includes a corresponding tapered polygon plug configured to be placed in the bore of the shaft. A fastener is provided for securing the impeller to the shaft. The fastener passes through a passage in the plug of the impeller. The plug of the impeller is split so that when the fastener is inserted into the passage the plug expands to contact the bore and create an interference fit between the shaft and the impeller. Additionally, the impeller may include the tapered bore having a polygonal cross-section, and the shaft may include the tapered polygon plug configured to be placed in the bore of the impeller.
