  • Publication number: 20180186167
Abstract: A system is capable of generating identifications that include distinctive line patterns corresponding to different portions of secure customer information. In some implementations, data indicating one or more linear patterns and data indicating customer information to be embedded within an identification document is obtained. Respective subsets of the customer information are assigned to each of the one or more linear patterns. A photographic image to be included within the identification document is then modified based at least on generating a portion of the photographic image that is composed of at least one of the one or more linear patterns. The modified photographic image is then disposed on an identification document to yield embedded customer information.

  • Publication number: 20180186164
Abstract: Techniques are described to embed graphical identifiers into a ghost image within a layer of laminate of an identification document. The ghost image includes optically variable media that has a first appearance when viewed from a front of the identification document in reflected light at a first angle and a second, different appearance when viewed from the front of the identification document in reflected light in a second, different angle. During the ghost image generation process, a graphical identifier can be placed on a baseline ghost image to generate an adjusted ghost image. Once the adjusted ghost image is printed onto the identification document, the graphical identifier can be viewable based on the appearance of the adjusted ghost identifier in relation to the reflected light.

  • Publication number: 20180189605
Abstract: In some implementations, a system is capable of generating identifications that include distinctive line patterns corresponding to different portions of secure customer information. Data indicating an input image, and a dithering matrix representing a two-dimensional array of pixel values is obtained. Pixel values of pixels included in the input image are transformed using the dithering matrix. For each pixel within the input image, the transformation includes identifying a particular pixel value within the dithering matrix that represents a particular pixel within the input image, and adjusting an intensity value of the particular pixel based on attributes of the dithering matrix. A transformed image is generated based on the transformation and then provided for output.

  • Patent number: 9399363
Abstract: A forensic feature for a secure document comprises a base document layer and a covert material applied to the base document layer. The covert material includes a carrier and forensic material within the carrier. The forensic material includes a ratio of salts or oxides of metals, such as rare earth metals. The ratio is selected to correspond with a source of the document. The forensic material may be mixed into a coating or ink that is applied at predetermined locations on a secure document. The ratio is then measurable from metal ion signals of the salts or oxides. This ratio, or some metric derived from it, may be linked with information embedded elsewhere in the document to enable verification of the document. Another forensic document feature has a forensic metric that is measurable from a covert material in the document, and this forensic metric corresponds to a source of the document.

  • Publication number: 20160016767
Abstract: A method and apparatus for lifting and supporting a storage tank uses a series of lifting devices on piles spaced around the periphery of the tank. Each lifting device includes a lower threaded bar with a coupler that engages the upper end of a pile. A lifting bracket is inserted under or attached to the tank, and includes a tube that slides along the lower threaded bar. A plurality of upper threaded bars extend upward from the lifting bracket and pass through a horizontal beam that can slide vertically on them. Upward movement of the horizontal beam is limited by nuts on the upper threaded bars. A jack is placed between the horizontal beam and the lower threaded bar to raise the lifting bracket by exerting upward force on the horizontal beam. The lifting bracket can be held in this raised position by a nut on the lower threaded bar.

  • Patent number: 9061486
Abstract: An ID document includes a document core and a multi-layer laminate. The multi-layer laminate includes at least three layers: a top layer, a middle layer, and a bottom layer. The top layer, in combination with other layers, provides durability to the ID document. The top layer can be made of a material with strong intrusion or scratch resistance and a high thermal softening/deformation point and can also have high resistance to solvents. The middle layer may be made of a material with a low melting point, and may also have high resistance to solvents. The bottom layer helps to facilitate strong binding to the document core or inlay and may be made of a material with a relatively high melting point.

  • Patent number: 8950980
Abstract: A support platform for an oil field pumping unit includes a frame supporting the oil field pumping unit, vertical helical piles, and diagonal helical piles. The vertical helical piles are driven into the ground beneath the frame to support the frame and oil field pumping unit. Each diagonal helical pile has an upper end secured to the frame and a lower portion extending diagonally downward from the frame with a helical blade threaded into the ground to restrain horizontal forces exerted by the oil field pumping unit.

  • Patent number: 8833663
Abstract: The invention relates to identification documents, and in particular to pre-printing processing covert images, such as UV or IR images, provided on such identification documents. In one implementation, the invention provides a method of processing a digital image that is to be printed on a surface of an identification document as a fluorescing-capable image to improve the quality of the image. Edges or boundaries are detected within the image, the detected edges or boundaries forming an intermediate image. The edges or boundaries within the image are emphasized, and the emphasized image is used for printing the covert image. In some implementations of the invention, a digital watermark is embedded in the covert image.

  • Patent number: 8728613
Abstract: An identification document which includes anti-counterfeiting features to provide tamper evidence in response to counterfeiting attempts includes an image receiving area having one or more fixed or variable items of information. In one embodiment, a pattern of material is embedded into the image receiving layer in the vicinity of the one or more fixed or variable items of information in a predetermined configuration. The embedded pattern is comprised of a solvent insoluble material such that attempted delamination of the document using solvents results in visually detectable tampering.

  • Patent number: 8402837
Abstract: A system for field testing the bearing behavior of a test helical pile employs a plurality of anchor helical piles driven into the ground at angles around the test helical pile and a head assembly to form a support structure over the test pile. The head assembly includes attachments for engaging the upper ends of the anchor helical piles, and a vertical passageway extending through the head assembly. A hollow-core hydraulic jack having a vertical passageway is inserted between the upper end of the test helical pile and the head assembly to exert a test load on the test helical pile. A vertical member is placed through the vertical passageways in the head assembly and jack to the upper end of the test helical pile to measure movement of the test helical pile in response to the test load.

  • Patent number: 8377847
Abstract: An image destruct material comprises a release layer positioned between an image receiving layer and a base layer. The adhesion between the release layer and the base layer is greater than adhesion between the release layer and the image receiving layer. The release layer material can be used in secure documents that have an image receiving layer. After information is printed on the image receiving layer, an overlaminate is applied over it. Removal of the overlaminate destroys the printed image on the receiving layer because of the relative adhesive properties of the image receiving layer, overlaminate and release layer.
