  • Publication number: 20130141416
Abstract: A method may include generating display driver signals that vary between only two levels and applying the display driver signals to opposing electrodes of a display segment within a display device. The method varies a correlation between the display driver signals to select or de-select the display segment based on an average voltage magnitude across the display segment over a time period. The display segment is activated when the average voltage magnitude exceeds a threshold value.

  • Publication number: 20120235532
Abstract: An apparatus (structure) is provided to support a superconductor winding (61) of an electromotive machine. An elongated loop (74) provides radial support to the winding. A base assembly (84) may include a base module (89) arranged to anchor the loop at a proximate end (76) of the elongated loop by way of a tubular coupling (86). The tubular coupling may further provide a mechanical connection relative to an axially-adjacent base module. A bracket assembly (100) may define an interior recess to receive a portion of the winding and to support the elongated loop at a distal end (78) of the elongated loop, such as by way of a support (80). A lateral-extending loop (106) may have a first end connected to the bracket assembly (100) and a second end connected to the base module (89) to transfer to the rotor core lateral loads, which may be experienced by the winding.

  • Publication number: 20110169814
Abstract: A method may include controlling a display device in at least first mode by varying a correlation between display driver signals applied across display segments within the display device; wherein the display driver signals vary between substantially only two levels, and a display segment is activated when an average voltage magnitude across the segment over a time period exceeds a threshold value.

  • Patent number: 6626414
Abstract: A concrete casting sliding corner system includes a pallet for defining the cross-sectional shape and thickness of the sidewalls and an inside core mold disposed interiorly of the pallet and an outside mold jacket disposed outwardly of the pallet. The mold core and mold jacket are movable between an open release position and a closed casting position. A corner forming section includes a wedge-shaped member movable vertically between an upward casting position and a downward release position. Alignment means is included to coordinate the corner wedge and members of the mold core to prevent misalignment due to lack of coordination between the interior mold components.

  • Patent number: 5861698
Abstract: A generator rotor that reduces friction force transmitted to rotor teeth by a retaining ring is disclosed. The friction force is caused by end windings pushing longitudinally outward against the retaining ring when the windings heat up during operation of the rotor. A ring key diminishes the friction force transmitted to a rotor teeth region by transmitting more of the friction force to a rotor pole region. The present invention accomplishes this reduction in transmission by either forming a gap between the ring key and the teeth regions, by producing only light contact between the ring key and the teeth regions, by the ring key being formed of a lower stiffness material in the areas in which it contacts the teeth regions, or by a combination of the above.

  • Patent number: 5755982
Abstract: A mold system for casting five-sided, monolithic, seamless concrete products comprises an outside jacket, an inside mold core complete with base, and a movable pallet to aid stripping. The outside jacket preferably includes two L-shaped panel members arranged in a rectangular configuration which are supported for movement between open and closed positions by a pair of base-mounted corner actuators extending from the fixed base to the apex of each panel member. The panel members are also linked to one another by a series of actuators along each of the adjoining two corners of the jacket. The inside core includes four interior panels linked by four inside retractable corners. A minimum of two series of actuators also span the middle portion of the inside core. These middle actuators in conjunction with the actuators in the corner devices function to expand and contract the entire inside mold core. A plurality of base supported actuators are fastened to the inside core.

  • Patent number: 5528097
Abstract: A system for supporting a retaining ring on an end of body portion of a rotor in an electrodynamic system includes an end wedge which is adapted to be in contact with a retaining ring, a damper bar having a first surface which abuts the end wedge member and a second, oppositely facing surface; and a filler block positioned between the second surface of the damper bar and a field winding portion of a rotor. The filler block has a tapered surface which defines a stress-reducing gap between the field winding portion and the retaining ring, so as to minimize stress in the slot cell and field windings during high-speed rotation of the rotor.

  • Patent number: 4012784
Abstract: A voice actuated voice logging recorder includes logging decks and a recall deck such that voice data may be recorded or played back in the recall deck without interruption of the recording of voice data onto the tape of the logging deck. The invention further includes networks for recording a time code modulated by a unique signal indicative of the beginning of each message of voice data and for automatically repositioning the tape of the recall deck in response to the detection of the unique signal.
