  • Publication number: 20240269664
Abstract: A pipetting head for a liquid dispensing apparatus is provided. The pipetting head has a pipette tip connection mechanism and a plunger clamping mechanism having a plurality of mounts for holding the plungers of the array of pipettes during use, a plurality of clamping rods, each extending inside one of the mounts, and a clamping drive mechanism operable to drive relative movement between the mounts and the clamping rods to selectively engage the clamping mechanism. The mounts each have a radially extending feature configured to form one half of a snap-fit connection. The clamping region of each of the clamping rods is axially adjacent to the radially extending feature of its associated mount when in a clamping position, and is axially offset from the radially extending feature of its associated mount when in the release position. The clamping rod prevents the snap-fit connection with the plunger from being released when in the clamping position.

The pipette tip clamping mechanism and the plunger clamping mechanism each include a mounting plate having a plurality of mounts, a clamping plate having a plurality of clamping members each associated with one of the mounts, and a drive mechanism comprising an actuator operable to drive relative movement between the clamping plate and the mounting plate in an axial direction to selectively engage the clamping mechanism. The pipetting head further includes a drive actuator operable to move the plunger clamping mechanism in the axial direction towards or away from the plates of the pipette tip clamping mechanism to aspirate or dispense liquid during use. The drive actuator is configured to operate independently of the pipette tip clamping drive mechanism and the plunger clamping drive mechanism.

  • Publication number: 20220237631
Abstract: Implementations relate to systems and methods for generating a user profile based on periodic location fixes. A cellular telephone or other mobile device captures location information via GPS or other capability. A location history can be generated from accumulated location fixes. The location history is then analyzed to detect the user's travel and dwell patterns. That information can be combined with business classification (e.g., SIC, etc.) or Point of Interest (POI) databases to identify a user's likely home, work, or other locations based on dwell-times, time of day, and other parameters. The user's age and gender can potentially be inferred based on types of locations visited, such as school locations. The user profile can be correlated with market segmentation databases to generate a marketing rating, such as a Nielsen or Claritas rating. Advertising, media, or other content can then be tailored to the user's individual location and demographic profiles.

  • Patent number: 11373849
Abstract: A mass spectrometer is disclosed comprising: a first vacuum chamber having an inlet aperture; a second vacuum chamber; a differential pumping aperture separating the vacuum chambers; and an ion guide arranged in the first vacuum chamber for guiding ions from the inlet aperture to and through the differential pumping aperture. The ion guide has a construction for handling high gas loads such that the spectrometer is able to maintain the gas pressure in the first vacuum chamber such that when ions are accelerated therethrough the ions collide with gas and fragment.

  • Publication number: 20210279114
Abstract: A system monitors an event loop executing on a host and determines causes for delays in tasks of the event loop. The system may include circuitry that receives, from an agent of the host, event loop data defining suspend and resume times of the tasks of the event loop executing on the host. The circuitry determines, based on the event loop data, event loop analysis data defining execution times for each of the tasks. The circuitry determines, based on the event loop analysis data, a cause of a delay in a task of the event loop as resulting from at least one of (i) a task delay in execution of the task or (ii) a loop delay in execution of another task of the event loop.
