    Abstract: An antenna includes a plurality of superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) arrays on a chip, and a printed circuit board (PCB) formed with a cutout for receiving the chip. The PCB is formed with a set of coplanar transmission lines, and the chip is inserted into the cutout so that each said transmission line connects to a respective SQUID array. A cryogenic system can cool the chip to a temperature that causes a transition to superconductivity for the SQUID arrays. A thermal radome can be placed around the chip, the PCB and the cryogenic system to maintain the temperature. A DC bias can be applied to the SQUID arrays to facilitate RF detection. The SQUID array, chip and CPW transmission lines can cooperate to allow for both detection of said RF energy and conversion of said RF energy to a signal without requiring the use of a conductive antenna dish.

    Abstract: Implementations relate to systems and methods for generating a user profile based on periodic location fixes. A cellular telephone or other mobile device captures location information via GPS or other capability. A location history can be generated from accumulated location fixes. The location history is then analyzed to detect the user's travel and dwell patterns. That information can be combined with business classification (e.g., SIC, etc.) or Point of Interest (POI) databases to identify a user's likely home, work, or other locations based on dwell-times, time of day, and other parameters. The user's age and gender can potentially be inferred based on types of locations visited, such as school locations. The user profile can be correlated with market segmentation databases to generate a marketing rating, such as a Nielsen or Claritas rating. Advertising, media, or other content can then be tailored to the user's individual location and demographic profiles.

    Abstract: A targeting system operable to be used with a bow to assist an operator with striking a target with an arrow. The targeting system comprising a processor, a target sighting window, a ranging module and a projector. The processor is operable to determine a range (distance) to the target and determine an orientation of the bow to strike the target. The processor is configured to present a first sighting element on the target sighting window and project a second sighting element onto the target sighting window. The projected second sighting element appears to be closer to the target than the first sighting element, which may be aligned with the second sighting element to aim the bow. The projector is also operable to present a variable compensated sighting mark onto the target sighting window that is indicative of a compensated targeting axis.

    Abstract: Techniques are provided for implementing a system that can perform a range estimation of a target object at power levels both below and above an pre-defined power threshold. In embodiments, the system first performs a lower-power measurement, which may be sufficient to estimate the range to the object. If the low-power measurement is unsuccessful, the system then performs a fault check to ensure proper operation of the device. If the fault check is passed, the system may then perform a high-power measurement of the range to the object. Results may be provided to a user by a visual display.

A code for reporting updates of the value of the quantization parameter is interpreted to require larger changes when the quantization parameter initially is large and smaller changes when the quantization parameter initially is small.
