  • Patent number: 6997630
Abstract: A document feeder device is disclosed. The document feeder device includes a frame, a first roller shaft coupled to the frame, and a second roller shaft coupled to the frame. The first shaft is cantilevered. The document feeder device further includes a bearing coupled to the first roller shaft. The bearing has an eccentric shape and the eccentric shape allows the bearing to be rotated such that the position of the first roller shaft stays parallel to a second roller shaft. As a result, rollers attached to the first and second roller shafts are kept aligned so that they reliably feed documents through a printer. The document feeder device decreases production costs by eliminating the need for additional frame hardware and/or more rigid frame hardware.

  • Publication number: 20050199763
Abstract: A printer using a paper supply roll is provided with a capability for conversion between snap-in loading of the paper roll, in which the roll is snapped into place with the tubular core of the paper roll being held to rotate between a pair of bearing members, and drop-in loading, in which the roll is dropped onto a support surface, against which the periphery of the roll then turns. In a first version, each of the bearing members has a flat side and a spherical side, which is turned inward for snap-in loading and outward for drop-in loading. In another version, the bearing members are moved inward for snap-in loading and outward for drop-in loading.

  • Patent number: 6941606
Abstract: A sheet and web cleaner has a pair of substantially identical units in facing relation, providing a path for transporting a sheet or web therebetween. Each unit includes a suction hood with an inlet slot. A pair of channels adjacent and parallel thereto have a pressurized air ionizing bar which discharges ionized air at high velocity onto a moving sheet or web. A faceplate covers the channels and the inlet slot and has a tapered central elongate inlet opening which overlies the inlet slot. Elongate air discharge openings overly each of the channels adjacent the inlet opening. A plurality of spaced ridges are disposed on a side of the faceplate proximate the sheet or web oriented relative to a direction of travel of the sheet or web from a travel direction towards respective edges of the sheet or web. Spaces between the ridges communicate with the inlet and discharge openings.

  • Publication number: 20050186007
Abstract: A duplex check printer includes an upper document path, a print head at one side of the upper document path, and a lower document path having a loop to invert a check so that information can be printed on both sides of the check. The check is driven within the upper document path by feed rolls, which are reversed when the check is driven from the upper document path to the lower document path. The check is driven within the lower document path by belts, which are in turn driven by a separate motor.

  • Publication number: 20050172231
Abstract: A computer-based method and device for conveying interrelated image and narrative information is disclosed, suitable for use with a variety of types of information ranging from product information and maintenance procedures to cooking recipes, game commentaries, and travel guides. The first component of the device is an authoring environment used to specify images, narrative text, and interrelationships between elements of each. A second component is a conversion device that prepares the authored materials for viewing. The third component of the device is a delivery or run-time system, capable of being implemented in a standard World-Wide Web browser, which interacts with an end-user to present the information in an integrated fashion, such as by displaying or highlighting relevant portions of the image when the related portion of the narrative text is accessed and vice versa. The abstract is submitted with the understanding that it will not be used to interpret or limit the scope or meaning of the claims.

  • Publication number: 20050088458
Abstract: A system and method for the real-time composition and presentation of a complex, dynamic, and interactive experience by means of an efficient declarative markup language. Using the Surface construct, authors can embed images or full-motion video data anywhere they would use a traditional texture map within their 3D scene. Authors can also use the results of rendering one scene description as an image to be texture mapped into another scene. In particular, the Surface allows the results of any rendering application to be used as a texture within the author's scene. This allows declarative rendering of nested scenes and rendering of scenes having component Surfaces with decoupled rendering rates.

  • Publication number: 20050051243
Abstract: A cobalt-nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy useful in surgical implant applications includes, in weight percent based on total alloy weight, at least 20 cobalt, 33.0 to 37.0 nickel, 19.0 to 21.0 chromium, 9.0 to 10.5 molybdenum, and less than 30 ppm nitrogen. Embodiments of the alloy lack significant levels of titanium nitride and mixed carbonitride inclusions. The alloy may be cold drawn to thin-gauge wire without damage to the die as may be caused by hard particle inclusions in certain conventional alloy formulations.

  • Publication number: 20050031396
Abstract: A document feeder device is disclosed. The document feeder device includes a frame and at least one cantilevered roller shaft for advancing a document, where an unsupported end of the at least one cantilevered roller shaft floats. The document feeder device eliminates the need for a rigid frame to support the unsupported end. This decreases the cost of production by eliminating the need for additional frame hardware and/or more rigid frame hardware. The document feeder device can be implemented in existing designs.
