  • Publication number: 20050195769
Abstract: A spread spectrum method and apparatus for protecting and authenticating wirelessly transmitted digital information using numerous techniques. The apparatus may be a wireless code division multiple access (CDMA) communication system, a base station, a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), a transmitter, a receiver and/or an integrated circuit (IC). The wireless CDMA communication system includes a transmitter which steganographically embeds digital information in a CDMA communication signal and wirelessly transmits the CDMA communication signal. The system further includes a receiver which receives the CDMA communication signal and extracts the steganographically embedded digital information from the received CDMA communication signal.

  • Publication number: 20050180315
Abstract: A method and apparatus for protecting and authenticating wirelessly transmitted digital information using numerous techniques. The apparatus may be a wireless orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) communication system, a base station, a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), a transmitter, a receiver and/or an integrated circuit (IC). The wireless OFDM communication system includes a transmitter which steganographically embeds digital information in an OFDM communication signal and wirelessly transmits the OFDM communication signal. The system further includes a receiver which receives the OFDM communication signal and extracts the steganographically embedded digital information from the received OFDM communication signal.

  • Publication number: 20050154925
Abstract: Tokens/keys are produced for wireless communications. These tokens/keys are used for watermarks, signature insertion, encryption and other uses. In one embodiment, contextual information is used to generate tokens/keys. The tokens/keys may be derived directly from the contextual information. The contextual information may be used in conjunction with other information to derive the tokens/keys. Tokens/keys may be exchanged between transmit/receive units. The exchange of these tokens/keys may be encrypted.

  • Publication number: 20050129154
Abstract: A wireless communication apparatus which uses fast Fourier transforms (FFTs) in an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) receiver which incorporates a beam space antenna array. The beam space antenna array may be implemented with a Butler matrix array. The beam space antenna array may be a circular array, vertical array, or a combination of both circular and vertical arrays, for providing the desired angular antenna coverage. In one embodiment, the antenna array is optimized because the FFTs are linear invariant transform operators, whereby the order of operations in the OFDM receiver can be interchanged.

  • Publication number: 20050101353
Abstract: A method and system is disclosed for enhancing reception of wireless communication signals. A beam pattern including at least one set of beams is generated. Where the beam pattern includes at least two sets of beams, the beam sets may be offset with respect to each other and alternated to enhance reception. Beams may be selected for data processing based on a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and may be maximal-ratio combined where signals from a single WTRU are detected within more than one beam and are used for data processing.

  • Publication number: 20050008103
Abstract: A system, components and methods provide FEC decoding in a wireless communication system in which signal to noise ratio estimation is used for scaling information captured by a demodulator in processing received wireless communication signals. A preferred wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU) has a channel rate estimation device configured to process the received communication signals for the particular communication channel and to produce channel change rate estimates. A signal to noise ratio (SNR) estimation device of the WTRU is configured to produce SNR estimates based on observation windows of a calculated number of samples of the received signal where the number of samples used for each observation window is calculated a function of the channel change rate estimates produce by the channel rate estimation device.
