  • Patent number: 9496739
Abstract: An apparatus balances a discharge in parallel battery configuration by having a battery pack (a) with a first battery system and a second battery system in parallel configuration, and a pulse width modulation device and (b) being interconnectable to a load. Each of the first and second battery systems has, in series and in order, a first voltage sensor, a resistor, a second voltage sensor, a string of battery cells, and a switching device. The first and second voltage sensor, in each battery system, measures an electrical current, used to calculate the voltage drop across each resistor. The voltage drop values for each battery system determine whether the pulse width modulation device alters or maintains the pulse width modulation applied to each battery system's switching device. By maintaining or altering the pulse width modulation applied to each switching device, the apparatus effectively balances the electrical current discharge from each battery system.

  • Publication number: 20150365288
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for automatically and dynamically managing and coordinating network resources used by services between users over a data network having a network infrastructure. A network resources coordinator can include a knowledge store, rules library, rules engine, and orchestrator. The knowledge store can have a plurality of layered abstraction stores having stored thereon facts representative of a present state of the network. The rules library can include production rules representative of knowledge of the network and of users. The orchestrator can receive service requests from users and use the rules engine in conjunction with the production rules of the rules library and facts of the knowledge store to: determine network resources required and available for requested services, dynamically make automated decisions with respect to the network and users, detect and react to changes in the network in an automated fashion, and enforce constraints of the network.

  • Publication number: 20150003918
Abstract: The present invention provides an assembly for assisting in the construction of a pier. The assembly includes a base, an extension pole, and a collar. The base is adapted to rest on the lake floor. The extension pole is connected to the base and is of a sufficient length to extend above the water surface. The collar is mounted to the extension pole and supports a portion of the pier while an additional pier section is secured to support beams. The assembly is capable of being maneuvered without assistance, because the assembly provides structural support during construction of a pier, without requiring a user to actively support parts of the pier while in the water.

  • Publication number: 20140305858
Abstract: A filter element has a first end cap and a ring of filter media. The first end cap includes structures projecting from the periphery to form a keyed connection with a filter bowl and filter head. Some of the projections are fixed lugs, while other projections are latch fingers arranged to move in an axial direction during mounting and dismounting of the filter assembly components. The filter element first end cap is configured to mate with the upper end of a filter bowl to form an element/bowl assembly. The mated structures of the element and bowl form the male part of a bayonet connection. The filter head defines a corresponding female bayonet connector part. The latch fingers retain the element to the bowl and the assembled element and bowl to the filter head.

  • Patent number: 8649140
Abstract: A voltage activated 2nd level safety circuit for permanent isolation having a current activated fuse useful for class III medical devices, military applications, and any other passive loads. The battery system has a fuse current limiter and the current activated fuse maintain the fuse closed when a power cell, having a current sufficient to blow the fuse expeditiously, directs its current to the load. The power cell continues to direct its current to the load until the system detects an unacceptable battery or circuit condition. Once that unacceptable condition exists and is detected, a fuse blowing circuitry allows the power cell's current to expeditiously blow the current activated fuse. In response to the blown current activated fuse, the system's isolation switch(es) open as well to establish a permanent isolated battery.
