  • Publication number: 20050044753
Abstract: A method of controlling the movement of a work machine arm having a series of hydraulic cylinders operatively engaged with the work machine arm is disclosed. The method includes receiving a signal from an input device to change the position of the work machine arm and determining an extension amount of one or more of the series of hydraulic cylinders. The extension amount of one or more of the series of hydraulic cylinders is changed to effect the change in the position of the work machine arm. The changes in the extension amount of the one or more of the series of hydraulic cylinders are ordered based on a pre-selected priority of movement. A system for controlling the movement of a work machine arm having a series of hydraulic cylinders operatively engaged with the work machine arm is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4638494
Abstract: A system for the secure and rapid acquisition of a transmitted acquisition composite code composed from acquisition component codes. The acquisition composite code may, for example, be composed in accordance with a Boolean majority voting rule. Reference component codes that correlate respectively with the acquisition component codes are combined to provide a verification composite code that correlates with the acquisition composite code only when all of the reference component codes in the verification code are each in alignment with the corresponding acquisition component codes in the acquisition composite code. The verification code may, for example, be composed in accordance with a modulo-2 addition rule. Initially, the reference component codes are individually brought into alignment with the transmitted signal during the acquisition thereof.

  • Patent number: 4532639
Abstract: A CFAR estimator-correlator comprises an estimating filter responsive to the signal-plus-noise input process for providing an estimate of the signal waveform. The estimate and the signal-plus-noise process are applied to a correlator. An amplitude limiter interposed between the signal-plus-noise input and the correlator and a bandpass amplitude limiter interposed between the estimating filter and the correlator impart a CFAR characteristic to the apparatus. An interferometer is configured by utilizing separate sensors to provide a signal-plus-noise input process and a further signal-plus-noise input process to the amplitude limiter coupled to the correlator and to the estimating filter, respectively.

  • Patent number: 4441194
Abstract: A non-coherent receiving system is provided with a novel triple-bit matched filter detector system which provides two outputs indicative of the data stream being detected. A preliminary or soft decision is made concerning the state of the bits in the data stream. One of the outputs provides a best estimate of state of the data bit being detected and the other output provides the second best estimate of the state of the data bits being detected. The incoming data stream is processed and modified as it is shifted through a plurality of shift registers in real time employing the data bits subsequently detected. A controller is provided to make a plurality of predetermined evaluations of the state of the bits in the data stream and to provide a final or hard decision of the correct state of the data bits previously detected.

  • Patent number: 4423519
Abstract: An incoming signal is tested for the presence or onset of a frequency shift keyed (FSK) signal which alternates at a known rate between two unknown frequencies separated by a known frequency shift. The incoming signal is time delayed an odd multiple of the keying period and the delayed signal is multiplied by the incoming signal to produce sum and difference frequencies when the FSK signal is present. The difference frequency is selected by filtration, demodulated and integrated to produce a useable detector signal. The detector signal is compared with a threshold signal which is generated to discriminate between the FSK signal and other unwanted signals or noise in the communication channel.

  • Patent number: 4330799
Abstract: The interleaved dipulse sequence generating apparatus decomposes the data pulses of a data transmission or recording channel into pairs of spaced apart subpulses denoted as dipulses. The dipulses are interleaved or nested with respect to each other and without interference therebetween to provide an interleaved dipulse sequence signal which is conveyed on the channel.

  • Patent number: 4301910
Abstract: A machine is disclosed to be used in the trenching operation necessary for burying utility facilities such as water, sanitary pipes or gas mains. The machine includes an elongated, boom-like body having a large earth receiving hopper and a conveyor belt for transporting the earth to the rear and discharging it. It is equipped with a power plant in front and, while in operation at a trenching site, a hydraulically powered propulsion unit which pulls the machine along the trench. Its rear end is shaped and elevated such that earth moving equipment can operate beneath it and thus lay pipe, backfill and compact the trench between the ends of the machine using the earth discharged by the machine at its rear end. The rear portion of the machine is equipped with wing-like legs provided with wheels which support the rear of the machine while it is bridged over the trench.

  • Patent number: 4300496
Abstract: Firemen and other rescue workers customarily use various portable rescue equipment, such as, saws, or prying tools, and air evacuation or exhaust fans powered by internal combustion motors. As a lack of atmospheric air or a reduction to levels not supporting internal combustion affects the proper functioning of such motors, atmospheric air is excluded from the carburetors thereof by an air exclusion hood means attached thereto or associated therewith, and air from an air pack worn by the worker or other suitable remotely located source of compressed air is introduced thereinto through a line from such source to a demand type regulator valve as such fresh air is demanded or required by the motor. Thus, a supply of uncontaminated air from the air pack or remote source may be fed into the demand regulator valve and, thence, into the carburetor to fulfill the requirements of the motor and to insure the proper functioning thereof.

  • Patent number: 4195318
Abstract: A digital magnetic recording system is disclosed that utilizes partial response signalling to achieve the Nyquist data pulse rate with minimum bandwidth. A. C. bias is introduced to linearize the magnetic medium which, inter alis, permits reliable multilevel (greater than 2) data storage without impairing data accessibility. Preferably Class IV partial response is utilized with one or more sinusoidal lobes in the data frequency spectrum. The basic binary data to be stored is converted to, for example, ternary and the ternary data is precoded. The precoded ternary data is recorded on the magnetic medium via an interleaved dipulse sequence having a spectral null slightly outside the data frequency band. A pilot tone is inserted at the spectral null for timing recovery and automatic gain control.

  • Patent number: 4081756
Abstract: A dual channel signal detector circuit comprising an equalizer for responding to a variable peak amplitude input signal, in which the peaks are representative of data, so as to provide a substantially constant peak amplitude output signal having discrete data representative pulses spaced along a base line, which is substantially flat at the zero level in regions intermediate the pulses, for application to separate peak detection and amplitude detection channels. The peak detection channel produces data pulses each indicative of the relative time occurrence of the peak of a respective data representative pulse while the amplitude detection channel is triggered by signal levels of the data representative pulses exceeding a predetermined threshold to produce gating pulses for gating the data pulses to the circuit output substantially exclusive of any noise that may be present at the input of the circuit.
