  • Publication number: 20040193283
Abstract: A stent for maintaining an open passageway through a body lumen, such as the prostatic urethra of a male patient, includes an elongated segment including a flexible polymer material bridging a plurality of hoops. The elongated segment defines a lumen extending therethrough and has a distal end. A retention structure may be coupled to the distal end of the elongated segment to inhibit the distal end from migrating when the stent is placed within a body of a patient. The flexible polymer material is disposed between the plurality of hoops, thereby creating hinged members that allow for the spaces between the hoops to expand and contract longitudinally to accommodate prostatic swelling when the stent is placed within the prostatic urethra of the patient.

  • Publication number: 20040186422
Abstract: An agent delivery device includes an outer tubular body having a distal end, a proximal end, and a lumen extending between the distal end and the proximal end, an inner tubular body positioned coaxially within the lumen of the outer tubular body, the inner tubular body having a distal end configured for puncturing tissue, a proximal end, and a lumen extending between the distal end and the proximal end of the inner tubular body, and a suction port located at the distal end of the outer tubular body, the suction port being in fluid communication with the lumen of the outer tubular body. The inner tubular body may be fixedly or slidably secured to the outer tubular body. The agent delivery device may further include a monopolar or bipolar electrode and/or a radio-opaque marker carried at the distal end of the device.

  • Publication number: 20040138657
Abstract: A medical probe assembly and method for ablating tissue using radio frequency energy. The medical probe assembly includes an elongated shaft, a needle electrode array, and a hinged handle. The handle has a collar, which when in the up position covers the hinge so that the device can be used as a conventional medical probe. When the collar is in the down position the hinge is exposed, and the handle can be bent to reduce its overall height. With this reduced height the probe can be used while a patient is lying in a CT scanner or an MRI chamber. Therefore, the surgeon can monitor the ablation during the procedure, and thus avoid unnecessary damage to the surrounding healthy tissue on the one hand, and insufficient ablation of the diseased tissue on the other hand. An alternate embodiment uses a flexible handle instead of a hinged one.

  • Patent number: 5730068
Abstract: A table for displaying produce and baked goods and the like that includes a base and a tiltable table top pivotally mounted in the base. A series of collapsible shelves are pivotally mounted in the table top and are controlled by a detachable linkage so that the shelves remain in a horizontal position when the table top is tilted. Detaching the linkage allows the shelves to lie flat against the table top when the table top is tilted.

  • Patent number: 5222132
Abstract: A telephone support device attaches to a hospital bed-rail or similar assembly, and holds a one-piece telephone. The holder comprises an upper female and lower male member that are adapted to interlock in a guided detent mechanism to form a two-part bracket of adjustable length that mounts on the rail assembly. Upper and lower hooks respectively disposed on the upper and lower plates extend rearward over the upper rail and under the lower rail, firmly attaching the bracket to the rail assembly. One or more shelves projecting forward from the front surface of the rear wall defined by the two plates serve as a telephone rest. A pair of lateral retaining members project forward from opposite edges of the rear wall and are adapted receive a telephone instrument. The bracket is stiffened and reinforced by dimples embedded in the members and by suitably placed longitudinal ribs.

  • Patent number: 4998277
Abstract: A telephone support or holder clamps to a hospital bed rail assembly to accommodate a telephone instrument of the one-piece type. The holder has a bracket formed of a vertical back wall with upper and lower hooks that secure the holder to the upper and lower rails of the bed rail assembly. The telephone instrument is held between a pair of retaining members that each comprise a side wall and a front flange that extends towards the opposite retaining member. A support shelf or telephone rest can be affixed on the bracket or can be selectively positionable along a vertical slot. The bracket can have a C-shaped clamp member to secure to the vertical post of the older style hospital bed rails.
