  • Patent number: 5585279
Abstract: A time-resolved luminescence binding assay is described including a metal-labelled binding partner comprising a luminescent transition metal complex covalently attached to a binding partner such as an antigen or antibody. The metal-labelled binding partner, and a process for preparing said metal-labelled binding partner are described.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 8, 1994
Date of Patent: December 17, 1996
    Inventor: Robert S. Davidson
  • Patent number: 5380650
Abstract: In an assay in which a ligand is labelled by conjugation to a dihydrophthalazinedione (DPD), e.g. luminol or isoluminol, and the conjugated DPD is reacted with an oxidant, e.g. hydrogen peroxide, and an active heme group catalyst, e.g. microperoxidase, the light intensity is enhanced by certain sterically hindered amines defined as saturated bicyclic compounds having a nitrogen atom at one or both bridgehead positions or a piperidine ring compound having four C.sub.1-4 alkyl groups at the 2- and 6- positions. 1,4-Diazabicyclo[2.2.2]-octane, known as "DABCO" is preferred.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 23, 1989
Date of Patent: January 10, 1995
    Assignee: British Technology Group Ltd.
Inventors: Geoffrey J. R. Barnard, Dean Goodwin, Robert S. Davidson
  • Patent number: 5116876
Abstract: The polymerization of a cationically polymerizable resin especially an epoxy resin is effected by placing it adjacent to but not in contact with a layer comprising a photoinitiator. The preferred initiators are salts which comprise a fluorine atom such as hexafluorophosphate and tetrafluoroborate salts. The initiator may be irradiated separately which facilitates the curing of resins containing pigments. The products are free from contamination by unreacted initiator.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: May 26, 1992
    Assignee: National Research Development Corporation
Inventors: Robert S. Davidson, Susan A. Wilkinson
  • Patent number: 5043266
Abstract: Light obtained from the reaction between a dihydrophthalazinedione such as luminol or isoluminol, an oxidant such as hydrogen peroxide, and a peroxidase enzyme is enhanced by addition of an ortho- or para- imidazolyl- or benzimidazolylphenol. The effect has particular application to diagnostic assays.
    Type: Grant

Inventors: Margaret H. Dewar, Robert S. Davidson
  • Patent number: 4748087
Abstract: Cured coatings on substrates especially sheet substrates like paper are produced by electron beam irradiation of curable compositions comprising organic substituted tin silicon, titanium and zirconium compounds in which the organic radicals include crotonate or, especially, acrylate residues. The inclusion of the metal compounds gives coatings which cure rapidly at low electron beam doses to give cured coatings having good solvent and abrasion resistance properties. Coated substrates produced find use in plastic laminates, furniture foils and similar products.

Assignee: The Wiggins Teape Group Limited
Inventors: Robert S. Davidson, Richard J. Ellis
  • Patent number: 4305794
Abstract: Photochemical electrode can decompose water when irradiated with visible light and consists of red mercuric sulphide blackened by iodide treatment as a coating on a platinum mesh.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 4282159
Abstract: The preparation of propylene oxide or other epoxides by reaction which comprises the introduction of oxygen and olefin as reaction ingredients and the removal of the epoxide as it is formed in which iodine reacts with the olefin in a first reaction step to form iodohydrin and hydrogen iodide, converting the iodohydrin to the epoxide with the further production of hydrogen iodide in a second reaction step, and converting the hydrogen iodide to iodine for recycle to the first reaction step in a third reaction step in which an imidazole-copper complex is used as a catalyst in the third reaction step and which finds beneficial use in the first and second reaction steps to enable joinder of said reaction steps.
