  • Publication number: 20050033660
Abstract: A computer-implemented method and system for negotiating the purchase of goods and/or services by customers utilizes a simulated human merchant having predefined behavioral attributes. An algorithm representing behavioral attributes of a simulated human merchant is used to receive customer input data relating to particular goods and/or services desired to be purchased. The customer input data is processed to generate merchant responses to the customer input data, and the sale of goods and/or services are agreed to at a particular price as a result of processing of customer replies to merchant responses according to the algorithm.

  • Patent number: 5775234
Abstract: A height adjustable bedside table having a gas spring with a gas cylinder and reciprocating shaft and a locking mechanism that locks the shaft against movement with respect to the cylinder while maintaining a common longitudinal axis of the cylinder and shaft. The locking mechanism is mounted to the gas cylinder and includes a locking plate having an aperture which receives the reciprocating shaft to selectively lock the shaft with respect to the cylinder. The locking plate is mounted for selective movement to lock the shaft in one position and to free the shaft for longitudinal movement with respect to the locking plate in another position. A locking plate spring is mounted to the one frame member for biasing the locking plate to the one position.

The mount comprises an L-shaped support for embracing the bed frame and is formed of two legs having an opening at an outer portion of each of the legs. The mount also includes at least one tension plate having a hole at a central portion thereof and having bearing surfaces at each of opposite ends of the plate. The bearing surfaces are adapted to be received in the openings in the outer portion of each of the legs. A bolt is received in the tension plate and is adapted to abut the bed frame embraced by the L-shaped support. An adjustable mechanical advantage element is on the bolt and on the tension plate to selectively adjust the position of the bolt in the hole in the tension plate and thereby adjust the tension between the L-shaped support and the tension plate with the bed frame therebetween. • Patent number: 5473997
Abstract: An overbed table having a supporting base, an adjustable vertical column on the base and a table top supported by a cantilever mourned support brace mounted between the vertical column and the end of the supported table top. The table top can have a slidable vanity drawer mounted on the bottom of the table top. A second table top can be pivotally mounted under the table top. The table can also have a double table top. The double table top has spaced frictional driving wheels which cooperate with configured edges on a pair of vertically stacked table tops. One table top is operatively positioned between the driving wheels, while the second table top is operatively coupled to the outside surface of the driving wheels. Motion by either table top in a first direction will cause the other table top to move in the opposite direction. A vanity drawer can be mounted under the lower table top.
