  • Patent number: 9409942
Abstract: The current invention provides methods for producing a polypeptide as inclusion bodies in bacterial host cells. The present methods are carried out by forming a gene construct comprising the genetic sequence encoding a polypeptide operatively linked to that of an inclusion partner protein, such that host cells comprising the gene construct produce the polypeptide as intracellular inclusion bodies thereby facilitating rapid isolation and purification of recombinant proteins. The invention further provides methods for producing protein molecular weight ladders for us in protein gel electrophoresis, as well as proteins and protein molecular weight ladders produced by these methods.

  • Patent number: 9411675
Abstract: A digital system, components and method are configured with nonvolatile memory for storing digital data using codewords. The data is stored in the memory using multiple bits per memory cell of the memory. A code efficiency, for purposes of write operations and read operations relating to the memory, can be changed on a codeword-to-codeword basis based on input parameters. The code efficiency can change based on changing any one of the input parameters including bit density that is stored by the memory. Storing and reading fractional bit densities can be performed.

  • Patent number: 9413781
Abstract: A system and method to detect and contain threatening executable code by employing a threat monitor, verifier, endpoint agent, and a security information and event management module. The system and method are a departure from and an improvement over conventional systems in that, among other things, the system and method allow an investigator to determine whether a threat has persisted or executed, and allow that information to be communicated back to the detection mechanism (or other system) such that a user (or machine) may make a decision to take further action such as to contain the threat quickly and/or permit the system to do so automatically.

  • Patent number: 9414048
Abstract: In general, a “Stereoscopic Video Converter” (SVC) provides various techniques for automatically converting arbitrary 2D video sequences into perceptually plausible stereoscopic or “3D” versions while optionally generating dense depth maps for every frame of the video sequence. In particular, the automated 2D-to-3D conversion process first automatically estimates scene depth for each frame of an input video sequence via a label transfer process that matches features extracted from those frames with features from a database of images and videos having known ground truth depths. The estimated depth distributions for all image frames of the input video sequence are then used by the SVC for automatically generating a “right view” of a corresponding stereoscopic image for each frame (assuming that each original input frame represents the “left view” of the stereoscopic image).

  • Patent number: 9411900
Abstract: To provide a shortened version of a link that conveys useful information about the link's associated content, embodiments of the invention generate a shortened version of the link that comprises meaningful information about the original link. For example, in some embodiments such information includes portions of the link itself, such as domain and/or path components of the link's address text, content to which the link points, such as the text of a web page or other document referenced by the link's address text, or a rating of the content to which the link points. Thus, rather than generating an essentially random link, embodiments of the invention adaptively generate the shortened link to take into account the information about the link. Consequently, a user viewing the adaptively-generated shortened link can determine useful information about the content to which the shortened link leads based on the text of the shortened link itself.

  • Patent number: 9413606
Abstract: A networked device management system is in direct communication with a user's networked devices. Alternatively, the networked device management system is in communication with the networked devices via a controller located in proximity to the networked devices. A networked device is an addressable device that is capable of communicating with networked device management system. The networked device management system allows users to control the state of the user's networked devices that are registered with the networked device management system. That is, the networked device management system affords user control over the functional capabilities of the user's networked device. Networked devices of a user may be located in different geographical locations yet are still user controllable via the networked device management system. Thus, a user does not need to be in the proximity of the networked device in order to control the functional capabilities of the networked device.

  • Patent number: 9413395
Abstract: A multimode wireless communication terminal that communicates using a first radio access technology (RAT) and a second RAT determines whether the first and second RATs are in an active state, and modifies a maximum transmit power limit of the first RAT based on a voice codec rate of a voice transmission on the second RAT when the first RAT and the second RAT are in the active state concurrently, wherein the second RAT is conducting the voice transmission in the active state. In an alternative embodiment, the limit is modified based on a transmit power status of the second RAT or on a transmission type of the first RAT.

  • Patent number: 9412195
Abstract: By packing the depth data in a way that is independent of the number of samples, so that memory bandwidth is the same regardless of the number of samples, higher numbers of samples per pixel may be used without adversely affecting buffer cost. In some embodiments, the number of pixels per clock in a first level depth test may be increased by operating in the pixel domain, whereas previous solutions operated at the sample level.
