  • Patent number: 9395294
Abstract: A method of monitoring a fluid includes containing the fluid within a flow path, the fluid having a chemical reaction occurring therein. At least one integrated computational element is optically interacted with the fluid, thereby generating optically interacted light. An output signal is then produced based on the optically interacted light that corresponds to a characteristic of the chemical reaction.

  • Patent number: 9398636
Abstract: The present invention offers significant improvements in the performance of a radio receiver operating in an environment with high desired band interference. The present invention comprises a high selectivity RF circuit that is located between the antenna and the radio receiver, and utilizes superheterodyne technology to filter adjacent channel interference in the desired band frequency spectrum. This type of interference is problematic for IEEE 802.11 radio receivers that are implemented with the popular direct conversion radio receiver architectures. The present invention may be utilized in many types of radio receivers.

  • Patent number: 9393433
Abstract: Battery management circuitry for an implantable medical device such as an implantable neurostimulator is described. The circuitry has a T-shape with respect to the battery terminal, with charging circuitry coupled between rectifier circuitry and the battery terminal on one side of the T, and load isolation circuitry coupled between the load and the battery terminal on the other side. The load isolation circuitry can comprise two switches wired in parallel. An undervoltage fault condition opens both switches to isolate the battery terminal from the load to prevent further dissipation of the battery. Other fault conditions will open only one the switches leaving the other closed to allow for reduced power to the load to continue implant operations albeit at safer low-power levels. The battery management circuitry can be fixed in a particular location on an integrated circuit which also includes for example the stimulation circuitry for the electrodes.

  • Patent number: 9395845
Abstract: Touchscreen testing techniques are described. In one or more implementations, a piece of conductor (e.g., metal) is positioned as proximal to a touchscreen device and the touchscreen device is tested by simulating a touch of a user. This technique may be utilized to perform a variety of different testing of a touchscreen device, such as to test latency and probabilistic latency. Additional techniques are also described including contact geometry testing techniques.

  • Patent number: 9394890
Abstract: A reciprocating-piston pump with plain bearing traversed by flow. The reciprocating-piston pump is driven by an electromagnet to have a bearing of the piston in a cylinder, which bearing is protected against local overheating and from which bearing decomposition and reaction products and any wear products generated are discharged. For this purpose, elongate helical depressions are provided in one of two bearing surfaces in a bearing gap between the piston and the cylinder, which depressions are traversed entirely or partially by a flow of the liquid which is delivered by the piston acting in interaction with other components of the reciprocating-piston pump for the delivery rate of the reciprocating-piston pump. Reciprocating-piston pumps of the described type can be used as dosing pumps and as delivery pumps in fuel-operated standstill heaters, auxiliary heaters and exhaust-gas purification systems in vehicles.

  • Patent number: 9394020
Abstract: The specification discloses automotive body components including roll-formed components and slip-plane brackets. The roll-formed components may be used in place of components manufactured using other techniques, such as hydroforming. The slip-plane brackets may be adjustably positioned on the roll-formed components. More specifically, the slip-plane brackets are adjustable in two or more dimensions (e.g. laterally and longitudinally) before attachment, so that the brackets may compensate for tolerances in the roll-formed components. Attachment techniques may include welding and/or adhering.

  • Patent number: 9398421
Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for preventing access to a prohibited function on a mobile device when the mobile device is in a vehicle, the mobile device having an operating system (OS) installed thereon. The system includes a control device installed within the vehicle and a software application installed and running in memory resident on the mobile device. If a prohibited function is active or attempts to become active on the mobile device, the software application causes the mobile device to transmit a notification signal to the control device. In response, the control device transmits an OS-level command, such as a home or power key press, back to the mobile device. Upon receipt of the OS-level command, the operating system of the mobile device prevents access to the prohibited function without any direct interference or interruption of the prohibited function by the software application installed on the mobile device.
