Abstract: A pneumatic tire comprises a tread, a carcass and a belt structure interposed between the carcass and the tread. The belt structure includes a zigzag belt structure formed of at least two layers of cords interwoven together from a strip of rubber reinforced with one or more cords. The strip forming the zigzag belt structure is layed up in a winding pattern in accordance with the following formula: for i=1 through L, the ith winding pattern is: [WL-(i-1)Wi]×N for each drum revolution, wherein L is the number of different amplitudes used to define the zigzag cycle and L?2, and N is the number of zigzag cycles per drum revolution and N is either an integer ?1 or N=1/2n wherein n is an integer ?1.

Abstract: The present invention includes an integrated data traffic monitoring system monitoring data traffic received from a communication network and destined for a protected network. The monitoring system includes a security appliance and one or more security and monitoring technologies such as hardware and open source and proprietary software products. The security appliance and the security and monitoring technologies may be implemented as separate and distinct modules or combined into a single security appliance. The security and monitoring technologies monitor network data traffic on, or directed to, the protected network. The monitoring system collects data from each of the technologies into an event database and, based on the data, automatically generates rules directing one or more of the technologies to prevent subsequent communications traffic from specific sources from entering the protected network.

Abstract: A method of providing multi-person media item recommendations comprises receiving media preference information for a plurality of users, and generating a composite media recommendation score for a plurality of media items for a specified group of at least two of the plurality of users using the media preference information for the two or more users for the plurality of media items. A media recommendation is provided for the specified group of at least two of the plurality of users based on the generated composite media recommendation scores for the plurality of media items for the specified at least two of the plurality of users.

Abstract: Methods of delivering therapeutic agents by administering compositions including a bacterial collagen-binding polypeptide segment linked to the therapeutic agent to subjects in need of treatment with the therapeutic agent are provided. In these methods, the therapeutic agent is not a PTH/PTHrP receptor agonist or antagonist, basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) or epidermal growth factor (EGF). The bacterial collagen-binding polypeptide segment delivers the agent to sites of partially untwisted or under-twisted collagen. Methods of treating collagenopathies using a composition including a collagen-binding polypeptide and a PTH/PTHrP receptor agonist are also provided. In addition, methods of treating hyperparathyroidism, and hair loss using compositions comprising a collagen binding polypeptide and a PTH/PTHrP receptor agonist are provided. Finally, methods of reducing hair regrowth by administering a composition including a collagen binding polypeptide and a PTH/PTHrP receptor antagonist are provided.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer program products for synchronizing a first closed system with a second closed system are disclosed. A first transaction synchronization function on a first computing device receives a first plurality of user transactions and stores corresponding transaction records in a first synchronization file in a common format. The first transaction synchronization function submits the first plurality of user transactions to the first closed system via a first vendor interface for application to a first database. A second computing device accesses the first synchronization file, translates the transaction records in accordance with a second vendor interface, and submits the translated transaction records to a second closed system via a second vendor interface for application to a second closed system.

Abstract: A composition is provided that comprises a perfluorinated tetrafluoroethene polymer containing from 0 to 1.0% by weight of comonomers. The composition further comprises fibers containing inorganic oxides selected from silica or alumina and combinations thereof. Further, the composition comprises particles containing inorganic oxides selected from silica and alumina and combinations thereof. Also provided are methods of making such compositions and articles prepared from such compositions.

Abstract: An imaging system includes an illumination device for illuminating a target. A surgical microscope receives light from the target, the surgical microscope comprising at least one optical output port at which at least a portion of the received light is provided as an output from the surgical microscope. A tunable filter receives the portion of the received light provided as the output from the surgical microscope, the tunable filter being tunable to pass a filtered portion of the received light, the filtered portion of the received light having a plurality of wavelengths selected by the tunable filter and provided as output from the tunable filter. A high-resolution, broad-bandwidth electronic camera receives the light of a plurality of wavelengths selected by the tunable filter, the electronic camera converting the light of a plurality of wavelengths selected by the tunable filter to a plurality of electrical signals. A processor processes the plurality of electrical signals to form an image of the target.

Abstract: A sheath comprises an elastomeric tube having a self-expanding scaffold coupled to a wall. The scaffold can expand to a diameter larger than the tube diameter to provide an enlarged distal opening. An aspiration catheter has a balloon and an aspiration port so that occlusive material can be removed from a blood vessel by drawing the balloon through the vessel while simultaneously aspirating through the port.

Abstract: A bit retaining system for a rotary tool or device such as a router is disclosed. The bit retaining system may include a collet assembly and a control assembly. The collet assembly may include a spindle, a collet adapted to receive the bit, and a collet nut. The collet assembly may further include a collet gear mounted on the collet nut and/or a spindle gear mounted on the spindle. The control assembly selectively engages the collet assembly to drive the collet nut and/or secure the spindle in a fixed position, preventing its rotation. In operation, a hand tool is utilized to engage the control assembly. This configuration enables a user to capture and release the rotary tool bit using one hand.

Abstract: A mounting bracket for a slotted member such as a upright for a display fixture to allow shelves and other components to be mounted to the fixture has a main body portion having a connector bore for the component element to be affixed to the bracket. A hook at a first end of the main body engages a wall of a slot in the slotted member, while a tab at a second end of the main body member is offset rearwardly from the body member by an arm, the arm and tab being spaced from the hook a distance such that the arm extends through another slot of the slotted member. At least one of the hook and arm are position to engage an edge of the slot of the slotted member to position the bracket on the member. A portion of the tab lies behind a further slot when the bracket is installed on the slotted member, and has a threaded bore to accept a mounting bolt inserted from the front side of the slotted member to fix the mounting bracket in place on the slotted member.

Abstract: Disclosed are hinged and non-hinged bunk board cover systems for mating over a bunk board component of a watercraft trailer. An exemplary hinged embodiment includes a main contact surface component sized to substantially cover a top surface of the bunk board component and a pair of side fastener surface components connected to the main contact surface component via a pair of hinge components. The main contact surface component, hinge components and side fastener surface components may be co-extruded into a single, “cut to length” ribbon that can be formed into a bulk roll. It is envisioned that certain embodiments may be constructed from thermoplastics, thermoplastic elastomers, or a combination thereof.

Abstract: A geocast alerting system employs wireless geocast transmissions to deliver customized alerting messages to particular geographic areas. Geocast alerting regions and sub-regions can be defined within the system. Upon notice of the occurrence of an emergent situation, one or more geographic areas that may potentially be affected by the emergent situation are determined. The potentially effected geographic regions are compared with geocast alerting regions and sub-regions corresponding to particular geographic areas. Target alerting regions that should receive alerting messages are identified based on the comparison. The content of alerting messages can be tailored for each target alerting region. The content of alerting messages can contain distinct portions of content, each portion tailored based upon one or more conditions related to communications devices within the target alerting region.

Abstract: Methods are provided for multiplexed amplification of selected targets and analysis of the amplified targets. In preferred aspects the amplification and analysis take place on the same solid support and preferably in a localized area such as a bead or a feature of an array. Targets are circularized by hybridization to probes followed by ligation of the ends of the target to form a closed circle. The targets are then used as template for extension of an array bound probe resulting in extended probes having multiple copies of the target. The extended probes can then be analyzed. The methods may be used for genotyping, sequencing and analysis of copy number.

Abstract: Ethanol and other liquid products are produced by contacting syngas components such as CO or a mixture of CO2 and H2 with a surface of a membrane under anaerobic conditions and transferring these components into contact with a biofilm on the opposite side of the membrane. These steps provide a stable system for producing liquid products such as ethanol, butanol and other chemicals. The gas fed on the membrane's gas contact side transports through the membrane to form a biofilm of anaerobic microorganisms that converted the syngas to desired liquid products. The system can sustain production with a variety of microorganisms and membrane configurations.

Abstract: A bottom machine is provided for a glass processing device to manufacture glass containers from glass tubes. The bottom machine includes one or a plurality of holding units for holding the glass container or glass tube, with the holding units being mounted so as to rotate around an axis of rotation of the bottom machine in order to convey the glass container or glass tube to various processing positions, a pressure source for supplying a gas flow, a duct system communicating with the pressure source for directing the gas flow to the holding units and for feeding the gas flow into the glass tube or into the glass container, with the duct system being designed to be free of gaps.
